Gorgeous feel-good romance
This is such a fun read – a brother’s best friend, friends-with-benefits, small town sports romance that is sexy and sweet with just the right amount of emotion to bring the romance, and I really enjoyed this one! This is the first book in the Lake Spark Off-Season series, a spin-off from the Lake Spark series, and though there is some character crossover, you can read this one as a standalone. For reference though, Violet is the younger sister of Ford, hero from Worth the Wait (Lake Spark, #3).Declan Dash, ex-hockey player, now team owner, and well known playboy gets the surprise of his life when he rocks up to a sex party and finds his good friend’s younger sister, Violet present. Declan and Violet have shared a flirty attraction but haven’t really been in a position to act on it (also there’s the complication of her overprotective brother), but they’re both at the party to play, and when their names are pulled out of the bowl, they share a scorching night together. When Declan rocks up in Violet’s small home town of Lake Spark for the summer to work with her brother’s hockey summer camp, he proposes that they have a no-strings arrangement while he’s in town to work each other out of their systems. Ha! We all know where this story is going!Oh the hotness! These two are absolutely sizzling together, and as they spend time together and actually get to know each other, it doesn’t take long for the lines to get blurry, and their no-strings arrangement is suddenly complicated by feelings. It’s way out of Declan’s wheelhouse, and not only do they have Ford to consider, but Declan has no intention of entering into a relationship, while Violet wants love, marriage and a family. It’s a fun journey for them. They know they’re crossing all kinds of lines but they don’t pull back, they just go with it, and it ends up being one of those situations where they end up in a relationship without actually saying they’re in a relationship. Those are always fun! They have to work through feelings and expectations, and figure out what they want from each other, and though there is some drama along the way (as well as a protective big brother to deal with), it’s a gorgeous ride watching them find their way.Declan is a gorgeous romantic hero, a bad boy with a heart of gold who falls and falls hard (those are the best kind!). And Violent is fabulous yet relatable – strong, smart and sensible, she knows what she wants, and though she ends up feeling way more than she ever planned to, she handles her emotions well. I loved watching these two come together and eventually find their HEA.This is a great start to the series, and with a hint of things to come, I am excited to continue on.

Steamy & sweet
First intro to Evey Lyon, but it’s a win!! Steamy & sweet; It’s the finest combo and really grabs a readers heartstrings. Great read, loved the characters, settings, side stories, and can’t wait to dive further into the more of this series.

for all the lovers of small ton, sport and cosy romance
his is for all lovers of cozy romances but with sport, small town and friends.Lake Spark is a community, a small town that several retired athletes chose as their home, a vacation spot and eventually where they settled to have their families..Violet has been living in Lake Spark for some time, close to her brother and his family. And she's happy with her flower shop on the main street and her nephews, but after behaving well all this time, she decides to listen to her best friend and shake things up a bit by agreeing to go to a different tipe of party than the ones she's used to..But never would she have imagined that by signing the disclousure agreement and leaving her name in a bowl, she would meet Declan..Declan can't believe his luck, that Violet is at the same party, especially when their names are the only ones left in the bowl. But for one night they can forget that they've known each other for years and that she's the little sister of his best friend and former teammate..Or at least that's what he thinks, because now that he owns the team and has to see his best friend and his family often, he begins to doubt that one night was enough..the relationship between Violet and Declan is growing and with the chemistry and how these two connect it is impossible not to fall for them, trying to find their place in the world together.Steamy, sweet and cozy all in a sport romance that, in addition to opening a new world of new characters that I already knew, leaves me wanting to continue reading.

Waiting to Score
Such a great story. Hockey was Declan’s sport, now onto a new adventure in his life, as well as the town of Lake Spark. There is a beautiful community, challenges to teaching the young players, and having the support of a best friend. Fun, flirty, and never meaning for more than short term fling. Loved their story. ❤️

Small town romance
“Life’s always been a game to me. Turns out, the championship game that I’ve been after is the one that I have with you…”Over the years, hockey player Declan Dash had stayed away from Violet Spears out of respect for his best friend Ford. Discovering Violet at his friend’s hook-up party changed the score. He thought one night would scratch the itch and he could move on, but it didn’t work because he couldn’t seem to get her out of his mind. After retiring and purchasing a hockey team, Declan moved the team’s practices to Lake Spark. He wants to continue their fling, but he has no intentions of settling down.Violet Spears was a relationship type and didn’t do one-nighters but gave in to her friend one night and went to a party. Running into Declan at the party was an opportunity to have a night with the man she had crushed on. Only that one night turned into more when he suddenly showed up in Lake Spark for the off-season. Will she settle for the no-strings attachment relationship? Or will she come to realize she deserves and wants a commitment?Waiting to Score is the first book in the new Lake Spark Off-Season series by Evey Lyon. This was a new-to-me author and I’m so glad I had the chance to read one of her books. The book was easy to read and entertaining. I always like small-town romances and the small town of Lake Spark certainly had a lot of charm. I enjoyed the book and hope to read more by the author in the future.I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
