By Mickey Skee Bad Boys of Video: Interviews with Gay Adult Stars v. 1 Paperback – 9 Oct. 1998

When I ordered this as a gift with an extra copy for myself, I did not have expectations of a literary masterpiece. After reading many of the interviews, I am very impressed with the depth and scope of each of them. These are not your typical promotional blurbs about porn stars, nor are they like the "interview" videos that end as just another porn. These are actual interviews with the stars as seen through the eyes of a real interview-savvy journalist probing and following through to make sure the stars answer the "real" questions we all want the answers to. I enjoyed every one of the interviews. Having been an active fan during the years these stars were active, the interviews also brought back many fond memories and expanded greatly on what I knew about my favorite stars of the late 1990s and early 2000s. I highly recommend this book and its interviews.

Interviews with mostly forgotten performers.

This book opened my eyes to what felt like a secret world that hovers on the fringe of society. I was enthralled. Mickey Skee's interviews felt very honest and open, and the men were brave to share their feelings with him. It really ran the gamut of the new guys to the pros, all of whom had something unique to contribute to the book. Excellent.

Mickey Skee's book is a lot of fun. He chose a wide variety of stars from different age groups and backgrounds. Mickey Skee is obviously very adept at getting his subjects at ease with being interviewed. I noticed that he revealed that some of the stars who were given accolades for their performances as "bottoms" tended to be somewhat embarrassed and uncomfortable with that honor. (Maybe honor should be in quotes in that case...) Overall, Skee shows us that these seemingly unattainable stars have likable personalities, and are often quite charming.
