A sweet read...
Both of my twins who just turned 8 enjoyed the book. It's simple and easy to understand. A great way to prepare for baptism.

Great book!
I bought this for my nephew's seventh birthday. By happy chance he had just gotten really interested in boomerangs the day before. I like how it has a good church message that isn't the same old tired metaphors. I enjoyed looking for little details that signaled it took place in Australia. Well worth it!

Lovely, wonderful book!
This book was positively lovely. The message is simple enough for children, but perfect for adults as well. I loved the gorgeous illustrations and that it was set in Australia - it provides much-needed diversity in the LDS book market. I highly, highly recommend it!

I can only say that I loved this book
I can only say that I loved this book. It tells a sweet story of a young girl preparing to be baptized and how her grandfather prepares her by teaching her, using a boomerang to teach her the important facts that would help her understand baptism.

A fabulous book about after baptism!
I absolutely loved Baptism & Boomerangs!! It was bright and colorful, eye-catching, with fun illustrations and designs. What made it even better was the story that these pages told of a grandfather teaching two of his grandchildren about what happens after baptism. It's something we don't always think about talking to our children about, but definitely something we should. I loved how using the boomerang made it so easy for my kids to grasp what this book was teaching. It just clicked with them. I also loved how the Australian culture came through in this book. The story definitely made me want to get nice, wooden boomerangs for my children when they're baptized so they can remember the lesson taught here.If you have a child or know of anyone being baptized soon or who has recently been baptized Baptism & Boomerangs would make an excellent gift. It was a marvelous book and one I plan on reading several more times with my children, as well as sharing with others.Source: I would like to thank Cedar Fort for my complimentary copy, which did not affect my review in any way.

... illustrator Tatiana Lawton have come together and created a fun, colorful
Author Sherrie Gavin and illustrator Tatiana Lawton have come together and created a fun, colorful, and inspiring read about baptism for young LDS children. The story brings to light the hesitancy of not knowing or understanding the details of and for baptism, but with the help of Grandad and a boomerang, a better understanding develops. This is a delightful and inspiring story that young children taking the step to baptism, as well as those converting to the LDS faith will relate to and enjoy.Genre: children’s, religion, LDS, ChristianPublisher: Cedar FortPublication date: August 11, 2015Number of pages: 36A review copy of this novel was provided by Cedar Fort. WONDERFUL BOOK!
I absolutely adore this book!I think it is a PERFECT way to teach about some of the concepts of baptism-- and life.I loved that the extended family was included and chuckled as some of the fun things the little brother said.I am impressed with the object lessons that came from throwing a boomerang such as:* Just like a boomerang comes back to us "our Heavenly Parents have created a perfect plan so we [can] return to them."* "You need to throw the [boomerang] the right way. Just like we need to live our lives the right way."* When throwing a boomerang or living life it can sometimes seem hard and we might want to quit, but we need to "keep working at it...start fresh...learn from mistakes...then go again."This book also explains all the help we receive and how we are never alone...Love that lesson :)So many great books are coming out right now to help a young child better understand baptism and what that truly means.I highly recommend this one!

Excellent Baptism Book!!
I was drawn to this book by both the name and and the cover. The artwork inside is just as colorful and fun as the cover! Amara and Jack head to Sydney with their parents to visit their grandparents and for Amara's baptism. She's excited to be there and they have lots of fun! Amara soon confides to her parents that she's nervous about what comes after baptism. The next day, her grandfather takes her and Jack to the park where he answers Amara's questions and explains how baptism and boomerangs go together.I loved this book from beginning to end! I enjoyed learning more about the Australian culture, both through the story and the pictures, and especially the grandfather's explanation of the boomerang. When Amara was worried, her family rallied around her to make sure her questions were answered and she felt comfortable with baptism and all it entails. This would be a fun gift to give someone that's getting baptized, along with a boomerang, of course! It might be helpful to read it with them beforehand in case they have some of the same questions and would be a gateway to address any other concerns.I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.
