Tender moments and verbal jousting, in just the right mix
You know when you read a book and the pages just keep turning by themselves into the early hours of the morning. Well this is one of those.Loved the story, characters and town. Oh and the chicken.... sorry rooster. The story is obviously a rags to riches, will they won't they love story for the heroine Summer. Who is as light and breezy as her name. Until she's annoyed. I really enjoyed this about her character. I often wanted someone to provoke her, just to see the quick tempered reactions. (I think everyone should have a bit of Summers attitude in them.) Normally aimed at Cole. She's a fiery spirit with a secret to hide, that she is hurting from. The seriously sexy Hollywood heart throb, Cole Masten. Who is used to getting his own way, but has just had his heart broken. Gets put on a plane to Quincy. To keep out of trouble. But trouble is stood on a pouch in the form of Summer. He just can't work her out, and loves to push her buttons. With vulnerability on display and not knowing weather to listen to his head and his heart, he struggles to understand not only himself but the woman with the southern spitfire attitude. All while dealing with a pet. (Who I think steals the show, and teaches Cole about looking after someone else and not just his own needs)The book is in both Summer and Cole's eye's. Which I think helps to really understand both the characters and the struggle they both have. Fast paced. With lots of chemistry, that both characters try to avoid. Not wanting to get their hearts broken again. Of course (as is always the way, with a story like this) you root for the characters to sort their differences out and get together. The chemistry jumps right of the page. With tender moments and verbal jousting, in the right mix.A must read.

sassy, swoon-worthy escapism
I love that whole opposites attract angle in the story although I do think Cole and Summer are more alike than they originally want to admit. The dual narrative helps the reader gain true insight into their actions otherwise the animosity between the pair could be misinterpreted.I've got to be honest and say I really didn't like the portrayal of Cole going off the rails when he finally discovered just how much his 'wife' had played him. He had my sympathy and his actions were understandable in the whole validation of his manhood type of thing. However, this did not mean I enjoyed witnessing it :(Summer has grown up in one of those southern towns where appearance is everything, no matter what happens. Always on the outside being working class in a town full of millionaires hasn't been easy but when the whole town betrays you that takes on a whole new layer of hurt.Although I will say I completely adored Summer, she is the most content person I think I have ever seen portrayed; her outlook affects others in a positive manner. It is only with Cole that her sass really takes a shape all of its own. It's hilarious to witness. The theme of identity really stands out with Summer, showing that it is perfectly fine to do the things you love like cooking for your family and planting your garden. All that is of importance is your own happiness. Do not diminish how important that is by giving into pressure from others.Cole has to be the most romantic, squishy actor I have had the pleasure to imagine ;) He has so much to give, now his eyes have been opened and he is able to recognise something meaningful and true when it is in front of him. ♥Hollywood Dirt is a terrific piece of sassy, swoon-worthy escapism.

4.5⭐ A beautiful tale full of southern charm.
Hollywood Dirt has been sitting on my Kindle for a long time now and having recently re-watched the movie, I thought I'd give the book another try, and I'm really glad I did. As once I got into it, I found it extremely hard to put down and the more I read, the more I didn't want it to end. As Ms Torres brilliantly brings together two characters who have plenty of emotional baggage, and a big dose of hatred for each other and effortlessly weaves a tale where they can't help but fall in love. And with plenty of sparks, humour and feel good moments. This truly was a captivating read, it's just a shame I did find it so hard to get into. Yet, I can't deny it was worth the effort in the end.Would definitely recommend.

Fabulous
My first reading from this author and she is brilliant. I loved this story. Couldn't put it down. It is the story of mega movie star, Cole Matsen, who of course is a total hunk, who has just discovered his wife is having an affair. He is sent to his new movie location early while his divorce settlement is being hashed out. Here he encounters Summer Jenkins. She lives on the outside of town, having been ostracized by the locals after her act of revenge on her fiance and best friend, at her wedding rehearsal dinner 3 years ago. The physical attraction between them is instant and Cole decides to cast her as the leading lady in the movie. She is dreaming of escaping the town and is delighted with this chance of earning big money. However despite realising Cole, the heart throb movie star whom she has idolized, is in reality not very nice, she is unprepared for the chemistry between them and her reaction to his very presence. Their relationship is very well written. You can feel the electricity between them jump off the pages and place you in the midst of each page in the book. I loved the fact it is written from both pov so we learn exactly how each feels about the other. I just loved it. You know one of those books you read where time stands still as you just sink into a book and have to keep going to the end, everything else forgotten. This is one of those books. I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.
