THE LAST, GREAT UNICORN!
Gellman is the unicorn of improv instructors. His knowledge base is amazing and he actually captures what it is like to take an improv class, in a book. I have been improvising for 19 years, and am also an instructor. I use the exercises in this book all the time in my own classes. This is an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to truly experience what this art form is about.

What a wonderful book
Not just a wonderful book but an excellent tool for any improviser. I think that because it is written in the style of a novella, it makes it much easier to follow and you don't end up with just dry instructions, you get more of a feel for the experience itself.

Good Stuff
Whats different about this Improv book is the vehicle. Scruggs uses the perspective of a first person fictitious student character. At times the student can seem long winded but overall this delivery system makes for a soothing way to absorb the material at hand. I really like it. Currently I'm rereading it. It's got some interesting improv ideas that are helping me.Back Story: I've studied with Michael Gellman while in Chicago at Second City's Conservatory program. This book shows what a quality teacher he has always been.Extras: Its 155 pages. The paper is of good quality with a high contrast print making it easy to read. The cover is slightly rubberized, nice!
