I have very little room above the garage door when the door is opened. The handles may hit my ceiling. How high do they sit above the door?

Mine hit. The handles and the hinges. They look great but got all messed up when hitting weatherstripping

Magnets stick to ferrous metals. Aluminum is not ferrous. Most garage door skins are thin steel and magnets will stick to them. Try a fridge magnet before ordering.

Do the magnets mess with any mechanics /electronics of the door? (The way magnets might with a cell phone, eg)

No it does not mess with the garage door going up, al long as you keep it away from the garage door as it open slates. be sure to position them above the slates and the door will have no problem going up
