Great piece of hardware and great value. The only downside is that it may be too heavy duty. This thing is a beast. While I can't attest to the material its made (brass or brass plated,) I can attest to the strength and quality. It is much larger and heavier than expected but it works for what I needed for this play oven I built. I didnt trust the hinges alone, but with this chain, I feel confident it will stand to the test. Absolutely no problem with the screws but here's a tip though. Brass screws are not the hardest, and these may be a #10 screw, so I predrilled for the screwholes. For added strength, I used a hardwood, poplar for the door and also used a bit of wood glue. The screws went in perfectly. If this fails it will be because the wood did first. I'll definitely buy this again.

Wow these are EXACTLY what I wanted for my latest project. I refinish antique and vintage furniture. Currently I'm working on an antique secretary desk. This desk is special and it is to be highlighted on numerous blogs coming out from my product rep. It's a big deal for me. With all pieces comes trials and tribulations, but this one needs to be just right. Normally, 2 wooden bars slide out under each side of the flip lid on this desk to support the lid as a writing area but they were rubbing in such a way that I felt that over time, my paint wouldn't hold up in those areas even with a top coat. So I stepped back and thought about it. I needed support for functionality but beauty too. This desk is over the top Glam with lots and lots of brass metal and brass paint detailing. These were the perfect addition. Easy to install and great quality. They are very sturdy and flat out pretty. They are thick and will definitely stand the test of time. One of the best purchases I've made in quite a while. The support the lid weight and create a space for every day use without the worry of wearing down

I used this for the lid of a saw till box I made for transporting hand saws securely. Worked great. Very heavy duty chain.

This thing looks and feels pretty good. I used it to hold together a cross-leg stand for a changing table top I was making. I only wish this was resizable - detachable on one end, so that you can remove few links. It worked for my application, but I had enough room there to play with and postion it properly. Without resizing use cases for this chain are pretty limited.

So, I ordered this thinking it was much more delicate so I could install into a jewelry box. I was rushed and missed that it was fairly heavy duty. The mounts are 1"×1 1/2" and the chain is nicely constructed. I'll use them on another project for sure. The finish is good and the links are solid and move freely if installed properly.To all the people complaining about the screws: learn how to properly install a screw. Pre-drill with a bit that is the same size as the shank of the screw not the threads. If the screw is a fashion screw as this is match the proper bit to the head (there are many sizes of phillips heads) and hand install. You will NEVER have the issues you describe.

I was building 12”x12” box for some optical gear and wanted something to keep the lid from going beyond about 100 degrees. While this looked good, it was just too big for the size box. Rather than returning, I threw it into the junk drawer for a possible future project. The product is fine, but it’s definitely not delicate!
