I do see alot of people complaining about the quality and how they claim the product isnt hikari; and while I do agree with them based on the clear bag they recieved I have to say the product I recieved was AMAZING! All my fishes love this food from plecos to barbs to bichrs they just love it. And for $20 you get soo much, it usually last me about 3 months and I feed it twice a day a good amount to a 125G tank... you really cant beat it... the only thing I would recomend is keep an eye out for the clear bag. I honesly dont think the clear bag some people have recieved is an authentic product based on the quality of the pellet. But if you do get the blue bag that I got, its the best food out there!

This food works well for my barb tank. The food doesn't cloud the water, and it sinks as advertised. My only complaint is that I wish it was slightly smaller. I thought “mini” suggested that it would be small enough for 2-4 in. fish. While my tinfoil barbs have no issue eating this food (they can eat much larger), my red-line sharks (denison barbs) have issues eating it. If you are getting this food for 4 inch or smaller fish, they may not be able to eat it until it sits in the water for long enough to soften (unless they have a wider mouth like killifish). The fish may also just ignore it because they can’t initially eat it. I have noticed that the pleco likes to suck on them, so at least the pellets make a nice alternative to his algae wafers, drift wood, and the occasional baby carrot I toss in the tank. I have included photos to try to show the actual size of the pellets (in comparison to a penny). I also included a photo that shows the bag is a zip lock bag. It works okay, but I just emptied it into the bucket from the pellets I got previous to this. The last photo shows the mini pellets in comparison to TetraColor Large Cichlid Pellets. I hope this helps, and I will update this review if anything changes. :]

Our adult koi had babies (fry) the summer of 2023. We began feeding the fry this same food by Hikari but in micro size due to it being a sinking food. Once they became 3 months old we began purchasing this food. They appear to really like it and it actually sinks to the bottom of the pond. I will continue to purchase until the babies go to their new home or if we get more fry this summer.

This fish food was a good value (as opposed to store-bought, smaller packages). Delivery took a bit longer than other purchases I made at the same time, but was reasonable, and everyone's chain issues are too common to complain about.

I have a 75gal Cichlid/Tropical mix tank and they all have been thriving off this food for years now. About 15 long living fish. Rock Severum, Parrot Cichlid, Frontosa, Bala Sharks, Iridescent Sharks, Blue Rainbows...all love this stuff. My Bala Sharks are 8 years old now and the Rainbows are 4 with everything else in between, so everyone has big enough mouths for this size pellet. If you have smaller fish this probably isn't what you are looking for, but Hikari probably makes it in the size you need. I used to use the 1mm sinking pellet but everyone got too big and needed more! With this food and proper tank maintenance I have lost only one fish in the last 5 years. My entire tank is happy and healthy and all rush to the top when I come for feeding!
