Nice Star destroyer
My 8 yr old is Star Wars bonkers at moment. This was an easy kit to put together. The landing pieces, legs, don’t quite work. Problem opening and closing one of them . Overall, it was worth it. It looks impressive.?the blue engines at the back lighting up are cool. Will try some of the other revell Star Wars kits

Start of our fleet
After much consideration I bought this Revell Star Destroyer model for my 6-year old son. Our household is not short of Star Wars. And I’m a big fan of craft modelling (although this is our first Star Wars modelling kit). Originally I was thinking to buy the much bigger more intricate Revell level-5 Star destroyer, but it lacks electronics that the little man certainly will appreciate. And as this is his first modelling kit it might be much more appealing to him to start with a more straightforward project that doesn’t require glue. Moreover there is this huge difference in price.. In the end, given that there are not many star destroyer toys or sizeable models out there my son was probably going to be pleased with this version. The box is fairly big. But as a more experienced builder I must admit I was a bit disappointed with the lack of parts included in the set. And with the detail on each of the parts. Tough I’m sure my son didn't notice. The 'built' was a semi-enjoyable joint experience, in the sense that it barely required more than 15 minutes. The whole point of these click sets is that no gluing nor flash removal is required. It's all quite sterile really. But again, it was actually good for the junior chief constructor who was a bit confused by this toy that he had to put together himself (!) and who lacks an appropriate attention span. I’m strongly contemplating to apply some basic shading/highlighting and weathering techniques to make the end result satisfying and more realistic, which given the large parts of the set should not be time consuming. The light function is quite nice, the sound effects on the other hand, although annoyingly loud is a bit limited in variation.Aside from all this I must stress that the recipient of the destroyer was very, very pleased with the result - he has been carrying the Star destroyer with him for days! (it is quite sturdy with no fragile details, except for the foldable stands). So rather than ending up with an imposing imperial ship hanging from his bedroom ceiling. It for now acts as a toy frequently involved in massive space battles with his vast collection of cheap Hotwheels tie fighters and x-wings. We might even buy some more of these star destroyers to bring balance to the battle. After all, there is no reason why he shouldn’t have fleet of them.
