Star Trek Discovery: Black Alert

Black Alert is an engaging team-based strategy game with few faults.Turns are fast and interesting. Moving to different areas of the ship to perform unique actions is satisfying. Beaming aboard enemy ships is equally satisfying when you can wreak havoc.Command cards are balanced but could have more or better actions. The number of cards per deck could be doubled to add more options for strategy.The corruption mechanic may cause all players to lose and creates a way to force a no-win scenario. This mechanic is thematic and maybe overlooked by Discovery fans.The game board and layout feel good, though the rule book could be more straightforward and better layout. The rule book is incomplete on certain play aspects. A few cards need clarification when they may be played since they insinuate out of turn play.I was not a fan of show photos used for cards and standees. Artwork would have added more character to the game. Overall, an enjoyable game which felt very thought out.
