Tastes like hash, yum, yum!
I saw Mike Rowe on "Dirty Jobs" making scrapple and had to try it, it's wonderful! It took some trial and error to get the frying down pat. I used a non-stick pan onmedium, no oil with 1/4"~1/2" thick slices. The trick was to brown one side, flipthen flatten with the spatula after a minute or 2 of frying on second side (It now lookslike a thin, round hamburger patty). When this side browns, re-flip to brownthe edges the first side.Comes out perfect, nice and crunchy with no soggy center. Tastes a lot like hash, yumyum!

Best Scrapple ever!
I grew up in Philly and now live in NYC & the only way I could get scrapple was to go to Philly. But with Covid and other issues that was not possible. I didn't even know you could buy it direct and now that I know, I will be ordering all the time! It arrived with dry ice and was cold with no problems. If you love scrapple I definitely recommend! It is pricey though but much cheaper than driving to Philly.

THE OLD PHILADELPHIA FAVORITE
I grew up on Scrapple as a kid and always loved it.... the CRISPY outside and flavor of the spices. When preparing, one must keep the Scrapple as cold as possible so it will slice well. The key is to slice it as THINLY as possible, because its all about that CRISPY, brown outside. If you don't slice it thinly enough, then you will NOT enjoy its uniqueness for what it is. When cooking, it is best to use a medium hot pan and only turn it over (to cook the other side) when the cooking side becomes a medium to dark brown color (not BURNED). The darker the outside, the more CRISPY it will be. If you cook it to a lighter color, then the Scrapple will be more chewy. You might want to cook at different shades of brown, so you can determine just HOW you like your Scrapple BEST.NOTHING LIKE SCRAPPLE !! And Habbersett's is the BEST ! It's why I had it shipped to NE.

Best Scrapple on the market
Raised on the East Coast, middle Atlantic states, scrapple was a household breakfast item. Habbersette was the only brand I knew. I have tried other brands over the years and Habbersette is still No. One to my taste. Now, living on the West Coast, Habbersette is not locally available. I made a Google search and was amazed to find it available on Amazon. It was also the best price. I order the 8lb package (8, one pound packages separately wrapped). Standard shipping OK in winter months. Freezes well too. Cut in 1/2 inch slices and fry without any butter/oil added for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, burner set the same as bacon. Enjoy!

Just like I remembered
Was browsing some old family recipes and came across a mention of scrapple and decided to see if I could find some on the internet. Led me to Amazon (where else?). Had a minor hiccup with the delivery as the order was placed during a horrendous snowstorm so got delayed. But seller was quick to respond (under an hour!) And the package arrived 2 days later. Was just as I remembered and my husband confirmed, it IS an acquired taste. Okay since that means more for me!!Bought 8 pounds so had plenty of extra to freeze. As someone else suggested, I sliced it and put parchment paper between the slices before freezing so I can pull out 1 or 2 pieces at a time when I'm ready for more.Came well wrapped and as others have mentioned, ice pack was still frozen when it got here to Amarillo. Individual packages where still cold, so no worries about that.Happy to find somewhere to get my scrapple fix without having to fly back east :)

Excellent taste, Average packaging
Alright, I'm giving this a 4 star rating simply because of mediocre packaging, particularly when including shipping time. This took roughly 7 days to reach me this time (last order was 5 days) and on both occasions they arrived cool or cold, not frozen. This time, they were mostly cool, but none were cold.On both occasians the individually sealed scrapple blocks had a few with holes in the seals. First order had 4 with small holes, which I cooked right away and froze the others. This order, only one package had a hole. However, the ice was completely melted, leaving a lightly cool water inside, which was lightly tinted brown due to one of the packages having a hole and leaking some juice.Moving on: the scrapple itself is pure joy. Habbersett scrapple is the #1 in Philly for a reason, and that's because it's absolutely delicious.Throw some slices in the pan and your nose is filled with absolute happiness from the delectible aroma. Transfer to your plate, or bread if thats how you prefer, and your mouth will soon be overwhelmed by that same sensation.Despite the packaging and transit, I'll always order Habersett over anything else.TL;DR:Packaging 3/5Taste 5/5

Delicious, reminds me of growing up
My Mother used to fix scrapple for me, it was a favorite of hers. It was a rare treat, but for a very long time, from high school in fact, I hadn't tasted it, and missed it. When I found it on Amazon and ordered, it was a great reminder of growing up on the East Coast, and a treat for me!

Good product
I have ordered this product several times and every time I have been very happy with it. My husbands family is from out east and it is exactly what they grew up with. Will order again. It arrived in a disposable cooler with freezer packs with it. It was still very cold when it arrived (but I'm not sure how it would hold up if it was to sit outside in the sun for long).
