The BEST mattress pad I have ever found!
The first time I purchased this mattress pad, was back in 2006 and it was really the only one I ever looked at. When I took it out of the package back in 2006, I knew it was a quality item. The stitching was great, the side that hugs the mattress was nylon and truly stretchy, and the top was so soft. It may not be the highest thread count, but the damask stripe makes it so much softer. The cotton top is so soft and helps to keep me cool. Ever since purchasing that first mattress pad in 2006, I knew that this was the mattress pad I would want in the future.Fast forward to 2012 when my husband and I finally upgrade to a king size bed. I looked several retail stores (Walmart, Ashley Furniture, JCPenny, Target and Walls Bargain Center). Not one of the stores had anything that could even come close to the Newpoint Home Deluxe Cotton Damask Stripe mattress pad! All of the mattress pads they carried were subpar! The stitching in those were ok, the top was ok - mostly made of polyester, and the sides were made out of material that closely resembled first aid gauze. As I was looking one side of the subpar ones, it literally tore at the spandex part (that would fit under the edge of the mattress). These subpar mattress were Simmons Beautyrest, Target brand, JCPenny Home, etc. The most expensive ones were upwards of $100 and were less quality than the Newpoint. I really did not have much choice, so I bought one from JCPenny that was around $40. I would say I tolerated it for ten months, it would make me so hot at night. I believe it was because of the polyester right underneath my fitted sheet. I missed my Newpoint mattress pad so bad!Of course the store I originally bought the very first one at no longer carried the Newpoint brand at all. I was so excited to finally find it available on Amazon! I was finally able to buy two for our king size bed and an extra for all of our kids twin size beds. I have never had any shrinking or melting issues as other reviewers have mentioned. My only issue is that it takes three dry cycles to get the king size completely dry, that is a slight inconvenience - but worth it for the comfort of a mattress pad that has cotton on top.I would highly recommend the Newpoint Home Deluxe 250 Thread Count Cotton Damask Stripe King Mattress pad to everyone!

Great buy, but not as good as it was before...
Excellent mattress pad. This is the second one that I purchased, the first in October 2007. Reading other reviews I was surprised to see that people mentioned the backing was coming off in the drier. After ordering a new one (with the same ASIN) now, I realize that the backing has been changed to a material that reminds me of those liners that very cheap duvets are made from, almost like a very heavy paper based fabric, so I can understand that this will come off with too much tumble drying or washing.I am dropping one star for this, as I really don't see why companies end up value engineering products like this, I guess this is what cost-cutting means when one tries to increase your margin on an established product.Either way, this is still a relatively cheap, effective mattress pad, therefore recommended, just be careful with it in the drier, or consider just washing it in the machine on a cold cycle by itself (use something like oxyclean to preserve the white) and then hang it over a shower rail or so on to dry, and I am sure it will likely serve you for several years as well.

Mattress Pad
About a year ago, I purchased a new bedroom set that had a platform type bed frame. I had also purchased a new pillow top mattress and box springs. I put on my mattress pad that I already had but it made the bed way too high and it did not fit snug. I bought several other mattress pads but did not like any of them. I ended up changing out the box springs and bought a low profile box springs hoping it would help with the highth of the bed. With the pillow top mattress, I struggled with finding a mattress pad that I liked. When I saw this one through Amazon, I read a lot of the reviews as everyone should when buying something through the mail. If you are reading my review on the NewPoint Home Deluxe 250 Thread-Count Cotton Damask Stripe Queen Mattress Pad, let me tell you this.....I LOVE IT! Because some of the reviews I read said it "fell apart after washing", I washed it on delicate, in cold water and I had NO problems. It fits a pillow top mattress PERFECT and does NOT slip and slide like some other people indicated on the reviews. I would quess that those people did not have a pillow top mattress and in fact had just a regular mattress where I could see that it would not fit as snug and slip around. I don't usually write long reviews but I am so thrilled to have found this mattress pad! It has been a struggle trying to get the heighth right with my bed and finding a mattress pad that would protect my new mattress, not slip off and still provide comfort and happily I have found it! If you have a pillow top mattress, this mattress pad is perfect!

Affordable & Quality... Who knew both could exist!
I read every review carefully before purchasing 4 of these for our boys twin bunk beds. Some of the concerns other reviewers had were about melting in the dryer and not fitting the beds... but I can say with confidence, that neither of those things happened to us.They were shipped promptly, and came beautifully packaged in a thick plastic zippered bag - no funny chemical smells either. Immediately after receiving the product, I washed them in my standard wash machine (no fancy front loader for me!), and then hung them to dry since it was beautiful outside. A week later, I was changing my young son's sheets from an accident and decided to dry his mattress pad in the dryer... and it came out fine! No melting, no shrinkage - just as beautiful as the first washing! If you're sitting on the fence about buying these, I say 'go for it!'... You can't beat the quality for the price!NOTE: We have 6 twin beds for our boys and Amazon capped the amount of Mattress pads we could buy to a maximum of 4.... thankfully my mom was able to purchase the remaining ones I needed - so keep that in mind if you need more than 4.
