The Walking Dead: Dead City: Season 1

I love The Walking Dead so I couldn’t resist the spin offs. Negan and Maggie are a pair made in Hell!Some great ideas lots of fresh angles so can’t wait for season two.

In October 2023 I ordered a DVD Walking Dead ...Dread City....season one for a Christmas gift I decided to view it a message came on my tv screen saying. . "...This disc may not be played in your region". Costing £29.99 I am very disappointed with it but unable to return it as it is now February and wanted to watch the full box sets of walking dead before I decided to view the" Dead City" dvds's.

Enemies Negan and Maggie put their differences aside to go on a dangerous mission to New York overrun with Walkers to rescue Maggie's kidnapped son. Picking up where The Walking Dead series finale left off, this is a short and sweet just 6 episodes tense and terrific spin off series feeling like Escape From New York alongside the usual zombie apocalypse horror with excellent performances from the returning Lauren Cohen and Jeffrey Dean Morgan alongside a brand new cast. A must for Walking Dead fans but you will need a multi region DVD player to watch it as its a Region 1 title.

Bought as a Christmas gift and they have only just got around to watching. Disc 1 and 3 play fine however disc 2 reckons it needs cleaning even after multiple attempts. Others seem to be having region issues. This is not made clear anywhere on the page or on the product itself.

Like previous buyers, must state if you don't have a multi region player this won't work!I really enjoyed this show and look forward to the promised 2nd season. With fewer characters it became a more focused story, concentrating on the strained relationship between Negan and Maggie and how their characters evolve. Great performances as ever.Just felt the bonus features let it down. Only having a Wondercon panel that JDM wasn't able to attend due to filming commitments was a bit disappointing as I'm sure there were better things they could have chosen.

Great dvd just what my daughter wanted.However be aware that this dvd may not work in the UK.I asked for a return which the seller kindly agreed too, as it didn't work on our main Dvd player.We had a few dvd player's so tried them all and luckily it worked.So we happily kept it and was enjoyed.I would Recommend this seller they were very helpful and good communication.Came well packed and in good time.5*****

The Amazon product specification doesn’t mention that this is a Region A disc that will not play on a European player. That information should be clearly displayed, and as I’ve never had a problem with this before it suggests it normally is. Amazon should offer to refund anyone who doesn’t have an American or Region free player as otherwise this an expensive coaster. I only give 1 star because that’s the minimum value, it should be 0 stars.

Currently £30 this is rather expensive for only 6 episodes plus a "Wonderwall Panel" (?) not seen by me. I have enjoyed/suffered all the WD/Fear the WD serials with a mixture of frustration with many episodes and a real delight in the overall concept(s) and character devellopment. This particularly applies here to Maggie, seen first in Series 2 of WD. How her character has grown. JDM has also been a regular for 5 or 7 series, and here I find a problem. When we first met him he was perhaps the greatest evil monster...ever. His murder of Maggie's lover with his bat Lucille was widely criticised (and rightly in my opinion) for his savagry, which he mercilessly carried with until around season 7? when we saw a maybe softening of his viciosness. Now in Dead City we are supposed to believe he is a changed person, with his violent tenedencies held in control unless he has to very violent, but in a good cause. No! Negan is not a hero, and the relationship with Maggie, for me, just did not work. Sadly the writers seem unable to bring any freshness/originality to the basic plot. Same old "Walkers". Same old villains (and not particularly scary or violent this time). What is good is the wonderful CGI of a wrecked deserted Manhatten (apart from "walkers" and a few assorted Guests!). Also Maggie still appeals and I would like her in her own story line. Maybe give Negan his own storyline next but not together. I wish I had enjoyed the serial a bit more, and if I am honest, and if there is a sequel(s) - I will get it. P.S. What about the teaser at the beginning for "DARRYL"??? I can't find that anywhere.
