Big upgrade comparing to Ford stuff
I've used this product on several 5.4 Fords. I think it's better looking and works better than the original part. Out of all the replacements I've tried, this is the best one I've found. It's a reliable part, so if you need a VCT solenoid, I'd say go for it.

Worked perfect
Ordered these for my brother for his birthday as it's what he needed to get his truck running. He installed them easy enough and his truck started right up. He's happy so I'm happy. He truck runs good, no leaks and no further engine noise

Amazing for the price and works just as good as OEM!!! But here's my 2 cents...I'm a certified automotive mechanic and despite what most people are saying about theirs failing after a few miles/hundred miles. I race my car and also daily it, I have no issues what so ever after installing these puppies. The car has over 104K miles on the motor and its got every performance bolt on you can imagine!Once I got these I tested the continuity to make sure they were sound and proceeded to clean them first! That's right you need to clean off the preservative and then soak them in motor oil. I use 5w30... and before someone says anything, these motors are meant to run on 5w30. Ford uses 5w20 for MPG and CAFE standards so they aren't taxed as much due to federal emission regulations.Check them first, clean them, soak them for at least 30 mins in your motor oil of choice (mine was 5w30) I had them submerged all the way to about where the black connection is clipped into the head of the solenoid and I would periodically shake them and get as much bubbles out as possible. Then just leave them in their until you are ready to install.Sincerely Mr J

Wrong seals
The solenoids were correct for my vehicle, but the seals were incorrect. The correct seals are 1 3/8” centered seals. The ones that came with the kit were too big in outer diameter and the center hole was off center. Not correct for my vehicle.Product was easy to install after I had to tear off the valve covers. Not the designers fault for this product… Engineers fault for how they designed my vehicle.

Buy the oem
Was helping out a friend who was down on his luck, Injured back and couldn't work. Bought these due the big price difference. The OEM ones were 68 bucks each while these were 32.99 for the pair. Worked for a couple of months then started running really bad and setting camshaft codes. Double checked everything on it and all test kept pointing back to the solenoids. Bought 2 new ones from dealer and problem solved. Lesson learned. On the 5.4 3 valve use OEM parts or they may well bite you. Not worth the hassle of returning them so they go in the trash. One other note is there are 2 style of valve covers on the engine. One has a small hole the other has a larger one. These cam with the seal to reseal the hole in the cover as you can pull the solenoids out without removing cover. If you have the smaller hole the valve covers have to come off.

cured a driver side passenger ticking sound
my 2004 FX4 5.4 3V has 245K miles, I bought it used last year just to take my boat to the lake so it's not my daily driver and wasn't so concerned with the mileage, also got it for pretty cheap since people don't like these triton engines, but I am mechanically inclined so wasn't too concerned if it needed a full timing job etc. Well we just took the truck on a 500 mile round trip and the engine was ticking pretty back on the drivers side, oil pressure is good, I have changed the oil twice in the 1 year of ownership so far and the transmission was whining when downshifting. I decided to change out the trans filter and replace 5 quarts trans fluid that the pan holds, that solved the whining issue then decided to see if the spark plugs I replaced when i bought the truck last year had come loose and was causing the tick. that was not the issue but I remembered I hadalready bought these solenoids and never installed them, I decided to replace just the driver side as that was still the original ford unit and the passenger side looked like it has been replaced fairly recently.I was surprised that when restarting the truck the ticking sound was GONE just from replacing the VCT solenoid so they are worth replacing before diving into a full cam phaser, timing job on these 5.4. I'm eventually going to do a full timing job, but not in a rush to do so now!
