I picked up Smart Money by Jack Gillen to better handle my finances. It is an introductory guide on the basics of money management. The topics include budgeting, debt, wealth building, financial scams, bills/expenses, banking, and case studies of wealthy individuals.This book is intended to help younger adults. It defines the basic financial principles and shows the benefits and pitfalls. The writing style is easy-going without being bogged down with technical jargon. I also liked the encouraging attitude that paved the way to sound finances using proper planning and knowledge.There are a few issues. In my Kindle reader, the table of contents is linked to the table of contents, not the chapters. I felt the examples of Sanders and Musk were not too realistic for ordinary people. This is a 99-page book (in my Kindle reader), and for $2.99, I would have preferred a few more pages. I also did not see a life goal financial plan section to put oneself onto a long-term plan to wealth; instead, this book is a collection of tips.That being said, I gained several financial gems. I recommend this book to young adults at the beginning of their financial journey.

How to budget, how much to save, and how much to spend on yourself to keep a budget as your friend, not as a prison warden. After that, there is valuable information about savings vehicles like IRAs and certificates of deposit. The author makes a point of telling you about the rewards of saving for the future. Retirement comes quickly and it is miserable when you can no longer earn a salary. If you can rely on the fruits of your savings, you will be able to travel, invest in a vacation home, or just be able to help your children get a start without debt.I highly recommend this book for those who have trouble gaining control of their finances!
