Turned out to be wonderful teaching tool
I originally came to the author's blog for entertainment and commiseration with other parents concerning the frustrations of raising a toddler. However, when my 2 1/2 year old son saw me looking at the page, much to my surprise he was captivated. He was dying to know why all these poor babies were crying. We ended up having wonderful conversations about empathy, safety, better ways to express our feelings to get what we want, and what things might be worth crying about. For nearly 6 months my son asked me to see the "crying baby page," so I knew once the book come out we would have to have it. For the last two weeks this has been our bedtime book. We talk about why the mommies and daddies have to keep the baby out of the oven and the dishwasher to keep him safe even if it means he might get upset. We talk about how someone should tell the boy that a fly can't hurt him so he wouldn't be upset. We talk about how people get cranky when they are hungry, or how the little girl should ask for another peach instead I'd crying that she ate up the first one. We talk about how we should never hurt the dog (or eat his tail). Sometimes I say, "Well, I would cry too if that happened to me," or "I think I would just ask for what I wanted instead of crying." Sometimes I try to get him to see another person's point of view by saying, "I think that Daddy might be sad that his baby doesn't want a picture taken with him." Even though as a frustrated parent I find the book very funny, I'm careful to never laugh or trivialize the babies' feelings in front of my son as he takes their feelings very seriously. For child who is just learning about feelings, empathy, and expressing himself verbally this series has unexpectedly turned out to be an invaluable teaching tool.

For a good laugh . . .
Bought it for my Daughter in law for Mother's day. She read it with her sister. They had a good chuckle. Highly recommend it.

Do you have kids that cry for weird reasons?
I bought this book for my son-in-law who is a Dad to 2 and 5 year old boys. He's always irritated at the things they cry about. I wanted him to see they are just pretty normal, albeit sometimes annoying! I was hoping it would be a little funnier. The pictures are cute. There are just brief explanations for why the child is crying. But, they are almost too short & simple. He wasn't laughing that much when reading it. But, he was agreeing with several pages.

Online content is better.
Don't get me wrong - I love this whole premise - so hilarious and relatable. However, I returned this. It wasn't the longest book and for the price I'm not sure I got my money's worth. It was very basic and I didn't feel like it was "enough" for a coffee table book in the way of content, to make it worth having it be a fixture in our living space. There were several "reasons" in the book that I was surprised made the cut - so many I've seen on the website were funnier.

Perfect Addition to Coffee Table Book Collection
No review is necessary. Those who follow Greg Pembroke's blog will understand how awesome this book is. While my kids are not featured in it, they love to sit with this book and laugh at all of the kids that are crying (when they are guilty of crying over the same reason themselves). It's a great coffee table book for any parent.

Do not miss out on this book!
I love the Tumblr, I love the Twitter feed. The only advantage they have over this book is that the book, unfortunately, ends. This book is not all entertaining pictures, either. There are short essays throughout that show Greg Pembroke has real sensitivity, depth and talent. I hope for not only sequels to this book, but perhaps more writing as well. Fabulous!

Hysterical
Okay, I know it's wrong to laugh at a child that's upset, but the truth is that ALL small children have meltdowns over the craziest things. Might as well make the best of it. This book is a nice diversion from the adult meltdowns I deal with daily (my own included), and always makes me smile.

Laughed till I snorted
I purchased 2 of these, planning to keep one and give another to a friend with a toddler and a baby. After reading "my" copy 3 times, I gave IT to another friend with a toddler. I laughed till I snorted at the pictures and the commentary (envisioning the concern over knuckle-covering skin.)

Great gift for parents to be
Hilarious! I gave it to a mother-to-be and she commented that she'd never before seen a book like this and within hours of my having given it to her had read almost the entire thing!! Definitely recommend it.
