Easy install & great sound!
I purchased the Alpine CDE124SXM and the Alpine KTP 445 power pack amp from Amazon for $204.00 & $104.00 respectively. I'm an Alpine fan and was replacing a ten year old Alpine head unit with this one. I considered buying a Kenwood, but deciding I'd rather have satellite radio over HD radio as Jacksonville, FL doesn't have many HD stations available at this time. The head unit and amp was truly plug & play and installed in about an hour in my Chevy Silverado Ext cab P/U. I did not run the satellite antenna yet and I am not using the satellite tuner at this time. Once installed, the radio sounded great with the Infinity Reference series 2-way 6 1/2" speakers in the front doors and the 4" X 6" 2-way plate speakers in the rear doors. Just to hear the difference, I tried connecting just the head unit only and while the sound was clean and clear the radio alone couldn't really push the speakers or produce much of the lower frequencies to fill in the sound. The radio is rated at 45w X 4 on a very good day, but is more than likely closer to the 10w X 4 range. Adding the KTP 445 power pack really made a huge difference with the full range of sound. The highs were clearer, mid tones were present and it produced about as much bass as my door speakers were capable of handling. This head unit has a full range of sound shaping adjustments that really help in tuning your system to enhance the strengths and hide the weaknesses. You can quickly access treble, mid range and bass level adjustments. Drilling a little deeper into the system allows you to set and adjust crossover points for the highs and lows. It also has separate adjustments for sub woofer crossover points and level controls. I've decided to add a sub within the next few weeks. I primarily listen to my iPod through the head unit's controls by connecting it to the USB plug on the front of the head unit. This model does not come with an iPod cable. I use the one that came with my iPod. It allows you to quickly search all of your playlist or you can search your collection of music by artist, song or genre. It lets you search for music while listening to a song. All in all, the Alpine CDE124SXM and KTP 445 perform the way you would expect an Alpine to perform. This is not the model to use if you are looking to build a large, complex, booming system as it only has one set of pre amp outputs (sub woofer) and I believe they are rated at 2-volts instead of 4-volts and it lacks some of the more high end features like channel delay, surround sound; features you may find on the more expensive CDA models. It does however offer enough big sound to make you forget about the guy in front of you who's talking on his cell phone and driving slow.

PERFECT!!
Quality~ Amazing!! Makes the stock speakers sound like pros!Benefits~ Nothing you can't access. SXM, Pandora, USB for Ipod so charges as it plays, CD, Radio.Easy to Install. SXM box fits behind dash. Easy removable faceplate & lined storage box.Digital blue light not distracting to driving. (No clock)Money~ Saved $60 inc shipping, over the best sale price I could find anywhere else & arrived promptly, at Christmas!Comes with wiring harness but you will still need to purchase additional if, no previous satellite installation.I found a deal online at Best Buy for harness ($10). Don't go to store, its double!Find it online & you can pick it up in about a week from customer service. You may want to get the dash kit there as well.Still gave 5 stars but probably 4.75~ Sometimes regardless of what function is on.. no volume, even though the numbers on the volume are visual.Open to suggestions. Seller told me to take it out , pay to ship it back & they would look at it.I would definitely purchase it all over again!!

Alpine CDE124SXM is Perfect
I love this stereo. I installed it in my car about 5 days ago and it is almost perfect. Before this I had the Pioneer DEH-3200ub. The Pioneer was very temperamental with the iPod and the audio settings were a pain in the butt to control. The Alpine CDE-124SXM is very easy to use. It has a separate button for audio settings; which I love. The XM works great; but be warned, it is XM not Sirius. The XM is perfect for me because I love baseball. XM carries every baseball game. This stereo also sounds much better than the pioneer. I was skeptical before getting it because I had never owned any alpine products, but this stereo is tremendous. It is well worth the money, especially if you fancy having an XM tuner without all the wires (the only wire with this is the antenna).

Very Nice Deck for a Very Good Price!
I actually ordered and installed this into my father's pickup. He has always been an Alpine person. The deck is very easy to install, its no different than any other cd player with the exception of the added Sirius XM box. The fact that he didn't have to spend another $100 to add that feature was pretty nice. If i was to replace anyone of mine in my vehicles I would be going with this. Everything is there, remote, XM box, antenna, ect. I would even recommend it if someone was to do a full stereo in their vehicle. Great Product Alpine!

Great unit
It works great, 200 watts peak, it is the best sounding stereo I have had yet.My old Sirius account was expired, reactivating was easy, yes it is Sirius/XM now but I was still able to purchase the Mostly music package for about 8bucks a month,I didn't need all the other channels. This Stereo is perfect for my 1990 mazda B2600i pickup, everything's in one unit, no more wires hanging around and over my dash, cab space is small.I would recommend this stereo to anyone wanting to get rid of all those loose wires hanging around.

Sounds Great!
This replaced an external XM Radio that I've had for 5 years. I always hated having it awkwardly attached to the dash, creating a cluttered look. The Alpine sounds MUCH better than the feed I was getting off the Audivox external.

Included Sirius XM tuner not compatible
This unit shipped with Sirius tuner SXV100. The SXV100 is NOT compatible with the current generation of SiriusXM service. Every time you turn the car off, the unit will lose its subscription information and you'll need to call SiriusXM and have them resend a refresh signal. Obviously that's not usable... I contacted Alpine and was told that there is a replacement part available from Alpine: SXV200V1--for $70. GROAN.
