I got this as a "cosmetic defect" product at substantial savings. Cosmetic defect on a lawn roller?! I never found the cosmetic defect and it works great. Some reviews have complained about assembly. If you look for any excuse to get out your favorite wrenches, you won't have any trouble putting this together. If you like to work puzzles or put together lego type toys, you won't have any trouble putting this together. If you don't have favorite wrenches or like to work puzzles, you can find these at Tractor Supply already assembled for a pretty similar price. Also, I saw complaints about the drain plug. It works like a boat drain plug. You might have to twist it clockwise and tighten the internal screw a little. There is no problem with the plug. My only complaint is that the parts bag had come open and the small parts were scattered all over inside the box. Luckily they were all there. All in all, I am totally satisfied with this lawn roller. Look for one with a cosmetic defect. ;-)

Let's see, where to start? First of all I want to say that Amazon did their part in this order. On the other hand, the manufacturer of this product needs to get their s*** together. There is no way that this package was ever ready to leave the manufacturer facility in the first place. So my package arrived in the scheduled delivery window, so far so good. When I opened the box I discovered that the hardware necessary to assemble the product was NOT in the box. It was supposed to be included so I called Agri Fab number included on the enclosed assembly instructions, yep thats right. The instructions were there but not the hardware. So I get a lady on the other end and I explain that the box was missing the parts to assemble it. She says "where did I get it"? So I say, I got it from Agri Fab which is technically true since Amazon was the seller but it ships direct from Agri Fab and her response is real nasty here, " I know it was made by Agri Fab, I want to know where you bought it". So I told her I ordered it online from Amazon. Then she says "what model is it"? So I wasnt certain of the number for that as the instruction sheet actually was written to cover three models of similar design which I told her. She says there is a sticker on the handle which I say no there isnt. Well it's on the drum then she says. I tell her no it isnt. She says did you check both sides of the drum? Um, yeah I did and the only thing on it is and this is real ironic to me, a small sticker with a quality stamp and someones clock number on it. Well, she says if it was made by Agri Fab it would have a sticker on it. At this point I told look its made by Agri Fab and its written right on the side of the box it came in. There is additional information that may help us id the model if you could cross ref the info there for me. So I give her the that info and sure enough she is able to ID the product. OK, now she says we will send you the hardware UPS. Few days go by and the new package arrives, great! Only when I open the package it has all of the pieces needed however the nylock nuts included do not fit the bolts included! Thats right, they sent bolts in one size and nuts in another. I'm pretty disgusted with the whole experience at this point so fortunately, I had some nuts that would fit and I begin to assemble it. The drum has steel axle ends on each side for the handle/drawbar to attach. The idea is to use the included bushings kit and the handle ends have the necessary hole to slide on over the axle. The whole assembly on each side is then held in place with cotter pins only, wait a minute. NO HOLES in the axle. Yep, Agri Fab never drilled the holes through the axles to assemble with the included cotter pins! Like I said, this package was NOT ready to leave their facitlity even though it had the QUALITY APPROVED sticker and ONLY that sticker... Dont waist your time or money on this fiasco. They need to get their s*** together and I WONT EVER BUY from that company again!

First, why only 4 stars? One reason - the virtually nonexistent assembly instructions. Not even an identification of bolt lengths. OTOH, it's not hard to figure out. This is one of the larger ones and the construction seems to be sturdier than the smaller ones. Still, time will tell.As for the roller itself, works great for what I need, which is compacting soil after rototilling and york raking 3 acres. Leaves a nice, smooth surface. You need to be realistic. It's not a 1 ton steel roller. It's not going to flatten out mounds in packed soil. It will compact loose soil very nicely.

I really like this roller it was easy assemble and heavy duty but lightweight. Arrived on time.

Our yard was heavily damaged by moles and deer. I bought this as soon as the ground thawed in hopes of repairing some of the damage. I was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to assemble. Please note that assembly instructions are not included. They provide a link to a YouTube video. The video is well done but you will need a device and internet access in your assembly area if you want to view it while assembling it. About a 10 minute job. Filled it with water (the fill hole is smaller than the end of your hose so I had to put a long brass sprayer on to keep the hose inside the drum). Once full I put the plug back in. Others have complained about the plug but you simply need to rotate thr little metal handle clockwise to tighten and counter clockwise to loosen. Pulled it several times over the damaged area and it looks great. May never have to use it again but was well worth the money. I could have spent twice the money but glad I didn’t.

This roller is well suited for the job of smoothing out an uneven yard after a winter of freezing ground. The roller is well constructed and seems to be very durable. It's really heavy when full of water. The tongue area of the roller could be a little more sturdy, as it is two pieces of flat bar that are bolted between two deformed tubes that have a groove bent into them for the bolts to pass through, I bumped into it with the mower wheel the other day, and the bars had become misaligned, so had to be re-aligned (My bad for bumping into it). Just hope this doesn't reveal a weak point in the design. Over the years I could see the tubes getting bent and deformed. If the were a slightly heavier gage that would probably help, but would also add to cost.The roller does work well towed behind a riding mower, you do have to be careful with your turns as you can flatten some plant that you didn't intend to, my mower is a zero turn kubota with a 48" deck. Used it twice worked fine both times.

once you get online to see how to essamble it, written instructions would have been easier, could use washers with the nuts and bolts and the attach pin needs a heavier clip pin, easy to tow and turns easy

This unit was a bit difficult to assemble, but once up and running worked as advertised. Including a couple wrenches would make assebly easier.

Need this to pull behind my small lawn tractor. Shipping time was excellent! Received just in time! Installed new sod this past week, and have used this lawn roller multiple times. It did a great job!
