Awesome poacher, great taste
After carefully reading every review from the different egg poachers, and I mean EVERY review on the internet (including in Amazon, eBay, Bed Bath & Beyond), THIS ONE was the winner by far. The superior quality and the great price makes is a great deal. This is the best you can get for this price! And frankly I don't know how it can be improved. Trust me! I’ve searched all over the internet, I’ve just saved you the hassle of browsing for hours to compare between the quality and price. It is very easy to use and to clean. I've been using it for 5 months now, and the non-stick material is intact, unlike other reviews from other products that say that it peels off after a few washes. It uses screws to hold the plastic tabs from the cups in place. In case the screws loosen and get lost, you can get a replacement screws in any hardware store. So, that won’t be a problem. Not saying that it's been an issue for me. Having plastic tabs in the cups is a good thing, this way you won’t burn your fingers, unlike other versions of the egg poachers that come with metal wires holding each cup. The plastic handle from the skillet allows for a safe burn-free grip.Tired of fried eggs in the morning, well go ahead and try this egg poacher. I highly recommend it for the whole family as a healthy way to start the day, or simply if you want to try something different in your breakfast.

Use Water to keep from sticking.
Works great. Needs something to encourage the non-stick cups to let go. A thin film of oil as described in the directions that come with the skillet will do the trick. The amount of oil is minscule. However, for those purists who complain about having to use ANY oil and those who complain that a proper poached egg is floating in hot water, a small amount of plain water---1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon---in the cup will also do the trick. The water stays on the bottom and does not readily mix with the white without agitation but boils and evaporates and keeps the egg from sticking. They slide right out and the texture of the cooked eggs strongly resembles the desired "poached" look. A win-win for sure.

Missing Egg Cup
Only 1 star so far. Received my Norpro 8 Inch Egg Poacher Skillet Set today, it was delivered on schedule. Upon unpacking the set one of the egg cups was missing. I guess 3 out of 4 ain't bad. I had to Google the company to find a telephone number, nothing on or inside the box. I was told to send an email to [email protected] and I will here something within 24 hours. My Amazon invoice was packed inside with the Skillet Set and reads "Most items can be refunded, exchanged, or replaced when returned in original and unopened condition". I take it that "unopened condition" means that if you open it you own it.Maybe if I don't hear from Norpro I'll order another one so I will have a complete set.Hopefully...

A Nice Skillet at a Reasonable Price
My Norpro poacher is a hybrid that I created from the original sold on Amazon. I wanted stainless steel egg cups instead of nonstick coated ones, so I purchased some off of a major internet website. They don't quite fit. A little too big, but still work OK and do the job. I also purchased a slightly different knob to pick up the egg tray with that allowed me a little more distance between my fingers and the hot tray. The skillet is nice, but the handle could be a little wider to allow a better grip. I wanted a non-metal handle and they are hard to find. The lid is nice and has a small vent hole, which was an important feature I wanted. Overall, the skillet is nice, but I wish Norpro would make a few modifications, as I have, and at least offer the all-stainless egg cups. What's funny is that after all of this work to develop a skillet I really like, I don't use it very much because it's more work to clean everything up. Still, when I want to treat myself to poached eggs, which are delicious, I have a nice skillet to work with.

Importent; test with boiling water before use
I bought this pan based on looks, and when I received it I noticed the part that holds the egg poachers was made of thin stamped sharp metal. It is O. K. but I was expecting better. The main reason I only gave this skillet 3 stars was when I decided to clean the set by boiling water in it, my kitchen filled with a strong smell. I noticed some grease or flux (gunk) leaking from the area where the handle is screwed to the skillet. I removed the handle and cleaned the gunk from the handle and pan and tried again. No problem now. Be sure to clean that gunk before you heat your skillet, the smell of that melting gunk is very pungent, and takes a long time to clear.

Norpro 8 inch Egg Poacher Skillet Set with Removable 4 Egg Poacher
I bought this egg poacher about 8 years ago from our local Bed Bath and Beyond, it's great. I put a little less than two inches of water in the bottom of the pan and then spread a small amount of butter in each cup, break an egg into the cup and cover. Place heat on high to begin to boil, turn down a bit and time for exactly 4 minutes... your egg should be perfect... I loved it so much I ordered one from Amazon and gave it to a friend who complained about her old out dated, dented poacher... She and her husband love it.

Does the job but not the most sturdy pan in my cabinet
This pan reminds me of the somewhat flimsy items you can find in supermarkets -- bright and shiny but not built last. The handle has no heft, and the egg cups and frame seem unlikely to last for long. I suppose that's the best you can get for $30 these days. However, after trying the cute little silicone egg poachers also available at Amazon, I was much happier with the egg-cooking experience using this pan. The eggs cooked evenly and there was no difficulty with water boiling up over the sides of the cups, as is the case with the silcone versions.Update -- one week later: I pulled one of the egg cups out of the dishwasher and watched the little handle/knob bounce away. The screw holding it had come loose during the wash cycle. Being smaller than the screen at the bottom of my machine, the screw must have disappeared down the drain. So, now I have to make the time to visit the hardware store to see if I can find a replacement. What a nuisance! I'm dropping my rating from 3 down to 2 stars for this.
