The Chambers leather waterproofer is created by a leatherworker. It is based on old methods using 100% natural ingredients. Please note, it requires heat for the waxes and resin to melt into the leather. It is advised to use the product on black leather as anything which penetrates leather makes it darker. For example, light brown boots will become medium brown. Medium brown boots will become dark brown. Let's say you would like to restore a favourite pair of black walking boots which let water through. First, clean them with a damp cloth or leather cleaner. Avoid using detergents as they are usually alkaline when leather is slightly acid (think of the baking soda and vinegar volcano school experiment!). When the boots are dry, you may wish to condition and colour if required. Take a small amount of the product and spread all over the first boot working well into the seams. Take a hairdryer and start heating the treated boot from about four inches moving continuously. Alternatively, leave in hot sun. Soon the leather will start absorbing the mixture. More worn parts of the leather will absorb the mixture first. You can spread the mixture and apply more. Knowing that all the ingredients are natural, I use my finger to apply and spread but a cloth can also be used. Keep heating with the hairdryer. In the olden days solders used to run their boots over fire instead of using hairdryers. Weathered leather will require 3-4 coats for best protection. When all the mixture is absorbed, repeat with the second boot. Following treatment, polish the boots with your usual shoe polish. Enjoy the outdoors! Shelf life - 5 years +

Dry feet in wet weather, whats not to like
What a great productI bought this product with a view to weather proof my golf shoes for the winter but I was so impressed I water proofed every other pair of leather shoes I have with it.Just rub the product onto the shoe then heat with an hair dryer (my wife's as I no longer need one ha ha) and it just melts into the leather within seconds, then a rub with a lint free cloth and you are ready, if you wish you can add your desired shoe polish, a quick test under the tap and the water is beading all over the shoe. The product is advertised as more suitable for black shoes as it will darken them but I used it on some white golf shoes and they came up great with very little colour change, you are also prolonging the life of your footwearGreat productWill most definitely buy again

This leather waterproofer comes in a 200ml pot and is a thick wax. It is easy to apply- you simply need to ensure the leather is clean first and as this can make leather darker it is suggested that it is most suitable for black leather. You need to apply the product evenly and then heat with a hair dryer before polishing with a cloth. I have used this to great success on several pairs of shoes and have found it to be very effective both of terms of waterproofing and in terms of improving the look/condition of the leather.Highly recommend.*Received from supplier to review this has not influenced my opinion.

Essential for hardworking boots.
I do a lot of long distance hiking (including the Nijmegan marches) and I have some much loved but slightly worn out leather boots. I used this product on them - it was a bit time consuming to do it properly, but armed with a cup of tea, a programme on tv and my hairdryer I soon set to work on them.It worked a treat and breathed new life into my beloved boots - they will never look like new again, but they might just last me a few more monthsof hiking over the moors.I also use Chambers leather conditioner on my furniture - that is another great product and smells divine.

Great stuff, super customer service.
So I ordered this and Amazon packed it with a book in a book box?, the lid was broken on arrival. So did a review to mention it and within hours Lara from Chambers wrote back and organised a replacement immediately.... brilliant attention to customer service!. My first use was on a pair of dark tan safety boots, I didn't use a hair dryer since as a baldy I don't have one, rather left out in the May sunshine for ten minutes and then applied a second coat, ten more minutes of sunbathing and all soaked in leaving a darker matt finish. Left overnight then applied hard wax polish, Kiwi for me, and a polish off. The dark tan became oxblood or cognac for the middle classes out there.... just glorious. So darkens by a shade, soaks in brilliantly, feeds and waterproofs and great service from the makers. One tub of this will last for ages.

A reliable product at a good price.
Have used this on my bike leathers, boots and leather gloves. Works a treat, just follow the instructions and take your time, do it right and it works! Don't bother leaving them in the sun as per the suggestion in the instructions, just use the hairdryer on warm setting it's quicker.
