Leonardo is back to lead the Turtles again
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a way of popping up every few years with fun new ideas while still maintaining their original charm of being four, fun loving teenagers who are quite proficient in the martial arts. I'm thrilled the TMNT are still around and in the middle of making another huge comeback. With IDW publishing an excellent monthly comic and reprinting nice collected versions of the original black and white comics, a new cartoon from Nickelodeon premiering soon, and a movie on the horizon, this seems like the perfect time for Playmates to jump in and play off of the nostalgia of adult fans who first encountered the turtles as children. I've looked at Leonardo's three brothers already, so here's my look at Leonardo for completion's sake! The Facts:Articulation- Hinged left and right toes, peg/hinge ankles, double hinge knees, thigh swivels, true ball hips, mid torso ball joint, peg/hinge ball jointed shoulders, bicep swivel, double hinged elbows, wrist swivels, hinged lower and middle fingers, peg/hinge ball jointed thumbs, true ball jointed head.Accessories- 2 Katanas, removable belt, katana sheathe, display stand.Positives:*I've said this in all of my reviews of these turtles, but I love everything about the sculpts in this series. They're big, bulky, and have such a pleasing aesthetic. They're a perfect blend of the original action figures and the cartoon look of each turtle. Like the original Leonardo action figure, the head sculpt features a very determined look with teeth showing on the left side of his face. Like the cartoon version, however, Leo has a brown belt and pupils on his eyes. He really looks fantastic when posed by himself, but pose him along with his brothers and you will be amazed!*Leonardo comes with two katanas. They're nice, look well proportioned, and fit nicely in his hands. The katanas are made of a really nice plastic: they're not gummy, rubbery, or bendy, but they're not so hard and brittle that they're going to break, either. They have a blue paint app on the handles.*The articulation is outstanding. I can't think of a single joint I would have added (well maybe a ball joint at the base of the neck) because everything is here. There are absolutely 34 points of articulation, including the fingers, thumbs, and toes. You wouldn't think toe joints would be that important, but they do add a lot of character when posing these guys. Thew head is a nice ball joint and the elbows and knees are all double jointed. The double jointed knees and elbows are well hidden by Leo's blue knee and elbow pads.*Anytime a figure comes with a stand, that's a plus in my book. Leonardo comes with a stand that is sculpted to look like a manhole cover. It features his name and the TMNT logo along with two foot pegs.Negatives:*The finger articulation adds a lot to the character, but those small thumb and finger joints do seem like they could be rather fragile. Be careful with posing them and you should be fine.* Because these turtles have eyes, there have been some issues with the eyes. Michelangelo's and Raphael's were fine while Donatello's were quite wonky. Leo's aren't bad, but there are a couple angles where they look funny.Overall:I love the TMNT and Playmates has really delivered stellar versions of these characters. Playmates has made a very successful entry into the market of action figures aimed at adult collectors and I hope to see them continue for quite some time with more characters. Shreddar, Krang, April, Splinter, and Casey Jones all seem like logical next steps in this line, so I hope we see them made. Oh, and Cowabunga!

Leonardo leads, so pick him up!
Leonardo is my favorite turtle, so I'm gonna be a little biased here. I grew up with the 2003 turtles and slowly fell more in love with the spirit of the '88 show. So I was surprised to see a bunch of really high-quality, tough and gritty looking re-renderings of the old toyline/show. This figure is well-painted, which is a step up from other lines. One thing to note is how the design differences from the show nod to older lines, like the strap from the movie toys or the yellow letter on the figures' belts from the '80's There is a wonky paint error on Mike's eyes but that's bound to happen once in every group, as it's a frequent complaint from buyers. So, for Leonardo alone, here are some pros and cons that may or may not apply to all copies of the toy:Pros: + The weaponry is solid plastic, so it isn't curvy and warped like that of traditional figures' accessories. This is a big complaint plaguing the entire toy-line, but this edition took more care to have detailed, solid weapons as a change of pace. + The articulation of this entire collection is the best so far, with the NECA comic turtles at a close second. The fixed action positions of the old figures are the biggest complaint from lifelong collectors, and the problem is totally eliminated by the enhanced limb, waist, double-jointed knees/elbows, and foot articulation.Cons: - The only issue I have is with this figure's finger joints. While the other three turtles have vice-grip, super tight grip, Leo's pair of fingers pops out from the ball-joint that secures them into his goofy-looking palm (which I'm cool with). It pops back in really easily, but it needs to frequently adjusted to fit right. Otherwise, this is a gripe that can happen to any sculpt of between the four turtles, so be wary.I love the TMNT, all of the renditions (but not the power rangery one), so I can only promote this line in the hopes of future releases of quality figures like these! Buy all four of these guys!

Cheap Quality and a total Ripoff!
I ordered this item along with the other TMNT action figures, and for some reason, I was told that it would ship 2 weeks after i ordered it. I finally received it, and it totally sucks. Apparently, it was shipped from China in a horrible packing that caused the swords to be bent. next, the figure totally sucks! The overall quality is pathetic: 1. The legs are thinner than the other figures I have, so this one cannot stand on its own and keeps falling off. 2. The belt where the 'L' is shown is melted.I am thoroughly disappointed with this item as it will ruin my collection. Please beware of this seller.

Cowabunga dude!
Confezione molto molto simile all'originale!

Radical!
By far and away the best TMNT figure based on the classic cartoon show that has ever been released.I wasn't sure about purchasing it as I noticed that the figure didn't have any detailed paint/shade work, but I think that actually works in it's favour. The coloured plastic used is of amazing quality and perfectly represents the style and colours of the original cartoon series. As there is no paint, there is no bleed, so everything stands out, especially the highly detailed head sculpt.Unlike all the other figures in the TMNT line, this one is super articulated, giving me the freedom to strike whichever ninja pose I feel suits. Better still is the quality and detail that have gone into the small but unique accessories. Leo's swords are perfect with a lovely matching blue band around the handles, the sword holders on his back are amazing too and what's best is that Leo can actually reach the swords on his shell with his hands, something no other sword toting figure I have can do. I have mine posed as if he's just about to draw them for a fight so he stand out amongst my other collectables. The belt is also amazing and can be removed, but I would definitely advise against it.The figure comes with a base in the shape of a sewer lid; an absolutely perfect fit and if you are 'keep in the box' kind of person, you'll love the effort an creativeness gone into this one.Overall; this is a must have for any TMNT fan (I am about to purchase the other three) so basically, why are you still reading this? Add this to your trolley now!
