This is a highly intriguing book with a very unique premise. The setting of the fictional kingdom of Himadripuram sets the perfect mood and the characters are very well etched out as well. A fascinating who dunnit with an engaging narrative style, the book has a perfect balance of suspense and fantasy. I loved the descriptive writing which keeps the readers completely hooked until the last page. Do get a copy. You'll enjoy this one very much!!!

One of my resolutions in 2024 was to overcome an almost year long reading block. I picked up and left halfway quite a few books last year.Hesitantly, I picked up ‘The Himadripuram Adventure’ written by Sitharaam Jayakumar, a writer whose work I have enjoyed reading in the past on his blog, poems and essays. I am glad I picked up his book!Jayakumar, in his inimitable simple and no frills-no dressings style, wove a tale of palace intrigue and conspiracy that kept me engrossed. The story is full of suspense and snares you in its intricate details from the very first page. For all my reading block, I managed to read this book in just a couple of sessions! I needed a fast page turner and Jayakumar delivered just the right dose! Thank you, Jayakumar! Your book, while spinning a web of plots inside my head, ended up clearing the cobwebs that I had been struggling to get out of! Thanks to this book, I managed to read one more too in quick time and am on my third of the year, so one more big shout out to my friend, Jayakumar!I hope somebody picks up this story for a film but I am looking forward to a sequel too!

This is a story set in the fictional city of Himadripuram, which revolves around a coup to overthrow the king. The first half involves character sketches and gives a good idea about the mindsets and habits of the various characters.We get small glimpses of the plot through the viewpoints of different people. This is a very unique and interesting style of narration which removes the monotony one would find, if it was just from the protagonist's perspective. The plot and hence the story pick up pace in the second half, where the King's royal guard starts getting a better idea about the coup. It becomes an intriguing, page-turning cat-and-mouse game after this, till the villian is unraveled. The language used by the author is impeccable yet easily understandable, clear and precise without unnecessary bombastic terms. This was an adventure I really enjoyed, though at some places I felt that the plot-line was a little cliche. Overall, I would surely recommend this fast-paced and enjoyable read to everyone who enjoys this genre!

This fast-paced and suspenseful story with some clever plot twists was difficult to put down. I became immersed in the troubled-yet-splendid Kingdom of Himadripuram as the layers of the plot were skilfully revealed one by one. The cast of characters was varied and intriguing, leaving me unsure who could be trusted, but all(?) was revealed in the end. I look forward to the sequel.
