Can these filters be installed by the homeowner without voiding the Kinetico K5 warranty?

That depends on your contract with your local sales rep that installed your system. As for my area it will not void the warranty because they allow the customers to put them in. I do know some areas they won't let customers put them in, I don't know why because they are so easily replaceable.
