Works well. Marginally better than hanging the spoke head off the end of a ruler and lots of other gauges like nipple size etc.

Really useful specialist tool.
I'm a hobby wheel builder and very often need to measure spokes. This is a job that needs to be done accurately to the nearest 0.5 mm. If you buy replacement spokes of the wrong length, you're in trouble. If they are too short, the nipple doesn't grip enough; if they are too long, you risk getting a puncture. This tool is very quick and easy to use and also has gauge holes for nipples and ball bearings. It's a must-have for anyone who messes about with bike wheels!

This is the one you need.
This is a proper spoke bearing ruler. Previously had the Park tool one but you can actually read this one. Not to mention it measure ball bearing sizes.
