Wales: A Hundred Records

I've devoured this book and have learnt SO much! Huw Stephens has been broadcasting on the BBC for 25 years and is a real champion of Welsh music, so who better to write a book showcasing 100 of Wales' most important artists. He definitely knows what he's talking about! The 100 records he's chosen span from the 1950s to the present day, and include all the big names you'd expect as well as other interesting ones I'd only heard of or didn't know at all - I've discovered some real gems, and my CD collection is definitely growing as a result of this purchase! For each record there's an article with a lovely glossy image of the cover on the facing page - the book looks gorgeous. The articles are packed with information about the artist, background on the genre and period when the record came out, plus info about other connected artists, so each one can lead you off on a YouTube/Wikipedia odyssey of its own. THOROUGHLY recommended for any music fan, Welsh or otherwise - will make the perfect birthday or Christmas present.
