Best Earpads for the Audeze Maxwell
I have been using the Maxwell headset very heavily for over a year and a half. The stock pads would become very warm in a brief amount of time. I immediately ordered the Wicked Cushions pads when they became available to purchase. Those pads definitely helped when it came to less heat.I very recently purchased the Defean Silk pads, and I find them being much better in nearly every way compared to the stock and WC pads. They are noticeably lighter, much more comfortable and fit much better all around. These pads really feel as though I am not experiencing any clamping force, as well. The openings within the pads are also larger than the WC pads, which also helps with comfort. Overall, simply great quality.I don't get as much of a cooling sensation when compared to the WC pads. However, the cooling aspect on WC pads doesn't last long at all, and will become quite warm during long listening sessions. The Defean Silk pads simply feel neutral at all times, which is a good thing. I have never felt them getting warm in the least bit.Installation of the pads is very quick and easy. I am really surprised to see other reviewers complaining about this aspect. You only have to position the pads at a slight angle and then twist them counter-clockwise. I didn't have to use any sort of force to get them in to place. Installation took no more than 5 seconds for each pad. The pads are fully secured once properly installed. They are easy enough to remove, as well (clockwise turn). Maybe the others were trying to twist them clockwise during installation, which is definitely much more difficult and could pose damage.I am not noticing any difference towards sound quality. Obviously the sound is still amazing. When compared to the WC pads, your ears will be closer to the drivers. My ears don't touch the thin fabric in front of the drivers, but your mileage may vary.My only very slight con is how the packaging could be improved. The pads arrived in a basic, clear zip lock baggy. That's perfectly fine for ear pads, but the presentation could easily be better in a more professional manner.Since the Defean Silk pads have a very similar price point as the Wicked Cushions pads, then I highly recommend going with these. Their overall comfort, in literally every way, is such a big difference for the better.

If you are on the fence, get off the fence and purchase these.
I have not tried the wicked cushions for the maxwell because I didn't want to add even more weight and head clamp force. Just as a preface. The stock pads are fine. I probably could have survived with them. But pretty much every serious tech reviewer had non stock pads. Either deafen or wicked cushions. I picked these because I prefer a softer feel.... And boy do they deliver. The comfort difference is night and day. Not only are they nice and cool for a whole 8 hour shift of working from home, but they are comfy as heck against my head. They significantly improve the comfort levels of this beastly headset. The other thing they fix is that the stock earpads were too short and my big ass ears would rub against the plastic frame on the inside. Not a single issue with that here. Will they fix the headband hurting my head? No. Only time will do that, as it hurts a little less every week I wear them, but the new earpads definitely help.I can't say I noticed any significant difference in sound quality but I'll be perfectly honest... The comfort difference is so high the stock pads immediately went into a drawer to stay as a permanent backup in case something were to happen to these while the next pair is being shipped. If I had one single complaint about them... It would be that they were needlessly difficult to get on. I'm not really sure why but one side of them would refuse to slide in properly, so I had to fight with it a bit to get everything seated properly until locked in on the cup. But once they were in there... All has been well. They're not budging unless I remove them purposely. And I won't, until they eventually wear out. We will see how long that takes, they seem very well made and high quality.Absolutely highly recommended by yours truly, a random guy on the internet *thumbs up*

Maxwell Upgradeish
I recently upgraded my Maxwell headset with the Defean Cooling Gel Replacement Earpads, and the experience was largely positive. The swap was incredibly easy—simply remove the old earpads and snap these new ones into place. The fit was perfect and didn't require any additional adjustments. The cooling gel feature is a nice touch, providing a comfortable and slightly cooler sensation compared to standard earpads. However, while they do offer some relief, they don't completely eliminate warmth during extended use. They still get a bit warm over time, but not as much as the originals.Overall, these earpads are a solid upgrade, offering easy installation and enhanced comfort with the cooling gel. If you're looking for a simple way to refresh your headset with a bit of extra comfort, these earpads are a great choice. Just keep in mind that while they help with heat, they won't completely resolve it.

Very comfortable and great alternative for the leather stock earpads!
Better than the stock earpads for me! More comfortable and less heat.

Better Than Expected
I bought these to compare to the original and Wicked Cushions earpads. The original ear pads are great but start hurting my ears after an hour or two of gaming. The wicked cushions on the other hand offer more depth than the original but weren't as plush and added too much weight to an already heavy headset. With the defean cushions it has the same cooling effect as the wicked cushion but isn't as heavy, So I can use them without any issues for multiple hours. I also don't notice any difference in sound quality, Everything still sounds crisp and just as good.I'd recommend them if you have issues with comfort on the original earpads.

Not great
The plastic locking ring that attached the ear pads to the headphones is not well made so you really need to force it, also the foam is not as dense as other "wicked" brands so the base sounds lighter and the headphones feel more open.
