PRETTY COOL ITEM - better quality would have made it 5 star. The comments about super strong magnets are false. When I first received this knife block, I put cheap, relatively light kitchen knives on them and they slid down and off. I was going to return the block.However when I tried my bigger and heavier knives they stayed on, because they had a lip overhang on the handles (that no handle cheaper knives did not have ) that made them stay on the block. So the not really strong magnets, combined with the lip on the handles of my better knives helped them not slide down and off.Also the bearings on the spinning mechanism are very rough and not smooth at all. It spins, but is tight with friction. I don't know if the "bearings" are plastic as opposed to steel with lubrication or what. It feels like not lubed, not metal bearings. maybe plastic on plastic.Because of the weak magnets, if I bump into one knife while reaching for another, the knife will fly off.why they didn't spend a few extra dollars to give actually strong magnets to hold big metal knives is beyond me. (on amazon really strong magnets are very inexpensive) If they had better bearings, it would feel like a true luxury item.So why did I give it 4 stars? Because it looks really cool, takes up relatively little space and is a very neat way to store and display knives. I didn't trust other knife blocks that claimed to hold knives horizontally because those reviews also complained about weak magnets. I figured the knives would slide off.So the design of this knife block is very attractive. Octagonal bamboo is very cool. Spinning concept is very nice, just wish it had smoother feel. So I do recommend this block as kind of a good deal and unique compared to others out there. It takes up relatively small countertop space for attractive display of 8 knives. If the manufacturers spent probably $8 more in better materials (magnets and bearings) it would be a 5 star item. As a unique 4 star item, I still recommend it.

Bought one of these as a Christmas present, and liked it so well, I bought one for myself, too! It is attractive, stable, and holds my favorite knives in full view. I like it's functionality better than my butcher block knife holder.

Came in broken. The base was detached. The screws are too shallow and looks like were misaligned during the production. Had to return.

I love this magnetic knife holder. Really has a strong magnet and holds the knives in place. The only downfall...is stainless steel knives do I stick to the magnet but that's ok as I only have one of those.

Great way to organize our knives.
