Moondrop Free DSP USB-C Earphone Upgrade Cable Fully Balanced Audio Output DSP Cable

I got these for my Meze Alba IEMs in order to get media buttons to use during the commute without always pulling the phone out. I found mixed reviews about the Moondrop Free DSP here on Amazon and am positively surprised by them. They work great with the Meze Alba. The pin connections fit precisely just like the Alba's original cables. Also the slightly curved reinforcement around the ear feels similar to the Alba's cable. I actually prefer the Moondrop cable over the Alba's as it a little more robust while still being flexible. Also, no rubbing sounds just like the Alba cable. I prefer having the USB-C/DAC integrated in the cable - less weight from an adapter. And the DAC sounds perfectly fine, on par with the original Alba's from what I can hear. And it does not have that silly LED when plugged in that the Alba USB-C dongle has.The Moondrop cable is a keeper. Good price, good quality and adding a healthy dose of usability without compromising sound quality.

EDIT: Things are working totally fine with the cable now, going to give a few more days and see how things go. Ordered the NiceHCK SP4 USB C IEM Cable directly from them as that seems to be exactly the same and cheaper.Original: I had the cable for less than 5 days and the inline controls are already not working! I keep the cable wrapped in a hard case when not using. It is very sad because the quality of the cable is amazing! I also enjoy the sound profile. The cable is heavy and has a great fit. The USB C connector is exactly what I was looking for. The cable does not tangle but the part after the y split can get twisted.Always - hunting for a good USB-C cable that has inline mic AND volume controls for my IEMs.

Sounded and worked great for a couple months before entirely breaking and becoming unusable. Horrible investment and would probably be better off just buying a regular 2pin cord and then a pocket dac with EQ.

Yes this cable is thicker than the standard chu 2 cable but its still plenty flexible, controls on it are very nice, doesnt tangle nearly as much, easy swap to do, connection feels way better than any small dac ive used with my phone, well worth the money.

The output audio through the headphones seems to work fine, but the microphone has stopped working after about a month of use. When the mic does work, it's creates insane amounts of static and/or feedback noise. They are unusable if you want to use them to take phone calls or record anything using the built-in mic. It's a shame because the whole point in buying these was for me to take take phone calls with my Truthear x Crinicle Zero:Reds.

I bought this product to add a level of convenience as I would not need an additional dongle adapter to play music. While it worked initially, a firmware update applied via the Moondrop Link app seems to have broken the functionality making this product inoperable.The build quality of the is decent for the price. Nothing exceptional, but not bad by any means. Connectors are stable and have no fitment issues. The volume control and play/pause button function well. If you use the cable without the app, then you should have no issues using this cable without issue.Where my problem with the functionality of this cable emerges is with the APP. As a DSP cable, the APP is a key feature to this cable. I downloaded the Moondrop Link app from the Google Play Store as recommended, and unfortunately, I had issues with the app from the beginning. My first issue was with it recognizing the cable. Sometimes it would appear in the app, and sometimes it would not. If I unplugged the cable, and then plugged it back in, then it would usually appear again. Setting up an EQ profile was difficult as it would often be disrupted by a pop-up requesting access to the device, which I would allow. I tried to see if this was an issue with my phone, but the same issue occurred on my tablet (Samsung Tab/ Google Phone) as well. After some fiddling, I was able to get it working and was able to listen to music without issue. This was fine until after month when I opened the app once more to adjust the EQ. When opened I noticed there was a firmware update. I went through the process, and it appeared successful (pop-up saying the firmware updated successfully), but after the firmware reset, there is no longer sound coming from the cable. After Multiple restarts, I was able to get it back working, but it was an unpleasant experience.If you have no need for the app, and are looking for a decent USB-C based cable, then this is a fine option that should serve you well. If you are looking to tune and adjust settings via the app, then you will probably have a rough experience until the app is vastly improved.

The flaws and bugs spoil a product that would be excellent without them.I wasn’t able to get the EQ config to work on a windows pc, MacBook Air or iOS moondrop app.I tried for longer than the process warrants.When plugged directly into an iPhone 15 pro max, the usb connection drops off and you have to unplug it and plug it back in again.It does work on android, but I don’t have one. I borrowed one to set it up and even when it works the process is not good. It allows you to enter vales that it defaults back to 0 unless you work out what increments it permits.
