For me it works OK. I have iphone 11 with a slim case and the ring under the case. It mounts fine and doesn't fall off and the ring doesn't prevent charging on the device or other wireless chargers I have. The magnetism could be stronger and I can believe it would be problematic with heavier device or thicker case. The rate of charge is not great either but sufficient to keep device topped up whilst using to navigate.

If you're looking for a magnetic car charger that's fit for purpose choose another brand. The magnets are that weak that they wont hold an iphone Xs to the charger while driving - falls off. The charger after being slow charging from the outset after a few months has finally given up.If you would like to achieve the same look, retain all the same features this wireless charger offers and save £20 in the process i suggest sticking a coffee cup lid to to interior of the vehicle.Basically a useless bit of black plastic stuck to my dash board.

Bought two different car chargers this one is excellent the other is just useless. All because of magnet strength/pattern. This one use a round disc and grips my iPhone solid to the mount. Bought for £19.99, current £29 price tag is too steep

Day 1: Received my brand new Samsung S8Day 2: Ordered this product.Day 3: installed into car and attached steel ring to phone as per manufacturers instructions.Day 4: Brand new S8 phone has a cracked screen as the magnet is no way near strong enough to hold the phone so it falls off as soon as you hit the tiniest bump in the road. Do not buy if you have an S8. It's too heavy for this device.

Wireless charging doesn’t work... It will charge for 2 seconds then stop charging for 5 seconds. Begin charging for 2 seconds and so on. Massive shame as build quality is great. But i’ve basically just spent £25 on a basic magnet phone mount.
