Superior Drive Train Cleanliness
Great lube. Smooth, clean, durable and quiet over many miles of Colorado gravel. I am converted to wax on all my bikes and won't go back. Silca is my go to brand.

Works better than any chain lube I have ever tried in the last 50 years.
I tried a lot of lubes over the 50 some odd years I've been riding, and this stuff is by far the best. I bought the Silca Super Secret Bike Chain Lube as an experiment on my touring bike after reading rave reviews, sure I said because Dumonde Tech got rave reviews but it was awful stuff and my chain and gears wore out way faster than any lube I have ever used before, so I didn't really believe the reviews for the Silca wax either, but I gave it try, and I'm glad I did! The stuff is not greasy because it's a wax. It cost a lot, but it also lasts a lot longer than other lubes I've tried even after it gets rained on, so the value for money is actually good. It quiets the chain down, so you don't hear anything from it, and it stays quiet for months, the bottle says only to reapply it when you start to hear noise from the chain. The chain and gear wear is way down as well. It's easy to use but I want to share a secret way to apply the lube to the chain. I bought a Pedros Pig 2 Chain Cleaning machine because this machine holds less fluid than any other chain cleaning machine on the market. What I did was fill the unit with the Silca wax lube up to the line, which doesn't take much fluid to do that, then install the machine onto the chain and pedal backwards until all the lube in the reservoir is gone, disconnect the machine and the chain is lubed! Rinse out the machine with hot water and let it air dry. Wait for the lubed chain to dry for 24 hours, if this is your first time using the Silca Lube on a chain do a second treatment after those 24 hours and wait another 24 hours, but you won't be needing keep doing a 2nd treatment every time you relube. Then after every ride simply wipe down the chain with a rag. The Pedro Pig 2 works fantastic for applying the chain lube, but it's not good at all to be used to clean the chain with, if you need to clean the chain use the Finish Line Pro Chain Cleaner. If you are putting the Silca was on for the first time you will need to clean the chain first or the stuff won't work. I used Muc-Off Chain cleaning fluid first, but after that you HAVE TO USE Silca Ultimate Chain Stripper & Wax Prep to finish cleaning the chain. Keep using it till the Finish Line Chain Cleaner machine is no longer holding black fluid, mild gray is ok. Wipe the chain down between cleanings, in between each cleaning let it dry for 15 minutes, rub the chain with your finger it should be dry, if your finger gets dirty clean the chain again, this just backs up the visual of the liquid in the cleaning tank. After the chain has dried you can then apply the Silca wax using the Pedros Pig 2. Dripping on the wax one roller at a time is tedious and it doesn't coat near as well as using the Pedros Pig 2 will. The wax when first applied will look white on the chain, but after 12 or so hours the whiteness will disappear, but you need to wait the full 24 hours for it to set up correctly. I do take a small bottle of the Silca Super Secret Bike Chain Lube when I go touring, and I do apply it one drop at a time on the rollers after a rain, and I won't have time to let it dry for 24 hours, which Silca says is fine in that case, but it will need a bit of time to dry, 6 hours minimum. Silca Super Secret Bike Chain Lube seriously surprised me, I do think they are overcharging for it, but Silca does that for everything they sell, but this lube did surprise me as to how well it worked. I would not recommend getting into the Silca hot wax thing, I really don't think it's remotely necessary and it's a huge hassle, maybe if you are racing and you want to eek out all the watts you can, but not for everyday riders. A normal rider also doesn't need the prewaxed Silca chain either. The Silca hot wax system will cost you $200 to get started plus $110 for the prewaxed chain, as you tell it's not for the average person to be paying out for.

Worth the effort
After using White Lightning wax for dry conditions for years I decided to try something new, a more modern formula. The reviews here and in the magazines were good so I went for it even though it is pretty expensive in my opinion. I’ve used molybdenum disulfide as a lubricant for other applications for years and have been really satisfied so the tungsten disulfide formulation makes perfect sense. I have a “very last” of the Dura Ace 10s chains and I’d like it to last. I have about 3,000miles on it. While the white lightening was t the best lubricator, it did an excellent job of keeping a clean chain, trapping dirt and then shedding it off (chain dandruff). I stripped it down using boiling water to melt the big chunk a off, the a bath and scrub in acetone, followed by heating in a toaster oven to 400°F to flash off the acetone and remaining wax. Last was a rinse in IPA and then hit it with compressed air. I probably could have gotten every last bit of grime with a degreaser in my ultrasonic cleaner, but I ran out of patience. I lubed it up with a drop on each link pin and then let it sit in a ziplock for a few hours soaking in the stuff. After that I Hing dry it outside. The wax dries clear, the tungsten leaves a gray color. I put it back on the bike (missing link) and back pedaled it for awhile. All was good. After a few hours of “set time” while I mowed the lawn (3+acres, takes awhile) I went for a ride. Out of the gates (garage) it was smooth and silent. I mean really silent! Shifting was excellent. 15 miles later of absolute blissful cycling I could tell it had really worked it’s way into the chain. At the end of 20 miles it was a little noisier but not bad (about like the white lightning right after treatment) and still VERY smooth running and shifting. I’m going to put another light coat of it on now (after the ride) and let it sit overnight for the next ride. Then I’m going to just see how many miles I can go before I really need to top it off again. I’m hoping 200miles or so. The 50-60mi I was getting with the White Lightning was a hassle to keep applying (or rather forgetting to reapply and then spending an hour or so on a bike that sounds like a squeaky old school bus. So far I’m satisfied. I’m not a racer, and the “7 watts of power” supposedly regained from this lube really means nothing to me. I’m old, fat, and lazy (but do get out on the bike ~100+miles a week) and I just want a quiet, smooth riding experience so for me it was worth the cheddar. I’ll try to update this review after a few hundred miles. I’ll add that I am totally happy that my DA chain, even with 3k on it already, is running great and will hopefully last awhile longer.

Great for road, less so for dirt
First the good: Really excellent lube in terms of adhesion and lubrication... runs clean and works well, with good durability. Really the perfect lube for road riding where you use immersive waxing as a primary lube and then supplement this to increase your intervals between full re-immersion baths. On the road bike, I would typically pull the chain to clean and re-wax at roughly 250-300 mile intervals, but using this I've been able to push that out to roughly 500 miles greatly reducing the overall time and effort involved in my immersive waxing routine. In that role, this stuff is really ideal. The not so good: Off road, it picks up enough dirt to make re-application an issue since you'll want to clean it thoroughly before re-applying. For gravel or mountain bike use, you're looking at a full chain clean, rinse, dry, and reapplication every 3-5 hours of riding as opposed to a standard wet lube that you can re-apply and wipe clean. Overall: Definitely does a great job in terms of lubrication but adds quite a bit of extra work for off-road use. For me, I'll stick to a wet lube like Rock-n-Roll Gold for off road applications and use this as a supplemental lube between full re-applications of wax on the road bike.

Game-Changer for Clean, Quiet, High-Performance Rides
As an avid cyclist who rides year-round, I'm always on the hunt for products that actually make a difference. SILCA Super Secret Chain Lube blew me away. From the first ride, my drivetrain felt buttery smooth and noticeably quieter. What really sets this lube apart is how clean everything stays, dirt and grime don’t cling like with traditional lubes, even after wet or dusty rides. Application is easy, and the drip tip gives you precise control so there’s no mess or waste. I followed SILCA’s instructions to start with a clean chain and noticed the benefits immediately. After a few hundred miles, I’m seeing less wear and no gunk buildup, which tells me this lube is doing its job really well. It may cost more than others, but it delivers premium results that justify the price. If you care about performance and want a chain lube that truly lives up to the hype, this is the one.
