Allows support for larger birds such as cardinals and woodpeckers to feed, but unfortunately also supports squirrels and doves who will then devour the contents of your tube in short order.The disadvantage of its attachment to the brass base via a large screw is the stress of the weight of squirrels is transferred to the black plastic tabs which connect the base to the tube and these tabs then fail within 6 months & have to be replaced.My solution to both problems of heavy feeders devouring the seed and their weight eventually leading to stress failures of the plastic tabs is to use a #9 rubber band to attach the tray to the feeder, threading it through a couple of the tray's drain holes and looping the ends over the brass perches.Squirrels either get tipped out, break the rubber band, or otherwise get deterred by the amount of effort it now takes them.This rubber band attachment method helped me decide I didn't really need to buy a "squirrel-proof" feeder as I could make my own. I hope this helps others!

The tray works just fine to catch the hulls from the nyger seed feeder. However.... I got the nyger seed feeder in hopes of deterring house sparrows from my yard, having read that they don't like nyger seed much, and don't like clinging to a feeder to eat. Well, that may be true, but this seed tray acts as a perch for the blasted sparrows, so they munch away on my expensive nyger seed and keep the more desirable native birds away. I'm returning the seed tray for that reason. Otherwise, I have to say the tray is sturdily made, easy to attach, and easy to clean. Wish this tray was wider. The birds still get birdseed everywhere.

I was worried after ordering this for the "Aspects Quick Clean Nyjer Tube - in your choice of colors." I'd neglected to notice this tray is advertised for a 2.75 inch diameter feeder. The feeder I'd purchased was a 3.8 inch diameter feeder. But this tray fits great!. It is just less suited to larger birds, which is fine because I'm trying to attract finches and other small birds. (Also, I could not find an Aspects 2.75 inch diameter feeder on Amazon's or Aspects' web site. Weird, huh? Maybe I missed it.) I am very satisfied with this product, but would recommend a bigger tray if you are trying to attract birds that are bigger than finches..

A must have for ground feeders. Also it is great for keeping the seed from dropping all over my deck. However, I suggest that when you attach it to your feeder, use some mailing tape to securely hold the screw on the bottom as the pesky squirrels have a habit of rotating the tray and loosening it from the feeder. It then drops to the ground from my high deck, and if I am lucky I can find the screw and reassemble it.

I wanted a 10" tray but couldn't find one on your website so I got this 8" without really knowing what the outside diameter was. The dimensions are too few (no tray hole diameter).

Thise helps keep seed from falling on the ground where other vermin can get it but it doesnt stop it completely. However, I have noticed a BIG decrease in the seed on the ground. Im not sure anything will stop it completely...birds are messy eaters.
