The Magic Seed

Inspiring; Much More Than Meets The Eye
My kids were inspired to 'pay forward' their many blessings. A fun story which teaches to give and the deep enjoyment that comes with giving. It compliments the idea we've tried to teach our children...'be a river that flowsand brings life, not a puddle that becomes stagnant because there's no outlet to give.' There are a couple of inspring themes ... the story also reminds me of the Biblical story about the Israelites receiving all the mana from heaven they needed for the day- when they tried to hoard the mana, and not trust they would receive more, it spoiled.Beautiful children's book thats so much more than meets the eye... teaches some truths of life; Highly recommend!

Great story and opportunity for creative expression
I love this book for two reasons:1. The story is great. It's a modern twist on Jack and the Beanstalk. It incites wonder and delight. I love the healthy-eating message and the emphasis on the benefits of sharing.2. The entire book is also a coloring book. More so, there are creative prompts at the end that enable children to be creative about their response to the story. Kids can really engage with the story by coloring and drawing within its pages.Wonderful book!==

Fun read for adults and kids!
The Magic Seed is a fun book for adults and children. It starts with the discovery of a magic seed, and describes that joy that a brother and sister have as they learn that giving is better than receiving. The story is charming, and just when you think it's over, the author invites the reader to use his/her creativity to complete several exercises in the back of the book. Such a delight!

A great lesson wrapped in a sweet story
Thanks to this book, my 2.5 year old wants nothing more than to share what she has with her family and school mates. The author did a fantastic job telling a touching story that cuts to the heart of why we share (and not just the standard "sharing is fun" pandering). Very cute, sweet, and a good bedtime read.

Teachings on the way the world really works!
Although the book is wonderful imaginative fiction, there are so many reminders to us all on giving and being thankful. This is a page turner that I immediately wanted to share with friends and family. Best part? There is an added bonus workbook at the back to capture my own thoughts - making this not just a book, but a mini personal journey. So refreshing. Thank you Newhouse for writing this!

Love it!
Explaining the concept of sharing to kids is not easy, and it is more difficult to even talk about it with adults. Having an illustrated (drawn with care by the author) handbook for the young and old is wonderful. I cannot wait to read it for my next story time!

Great Story for Kids
I sent this book to my two friends who are 3rd grade teachers in NYC and Boston. They read this story to the class and all of the kids LOVED it and grasped the meaning of the book! Debbie is an amazing author and illustrator...I highly recommend this book!

A magical children's story
This is a delightful story for children and the young at heart about the wonders of giving and sharing. It's told in charming verse and has delightful illustrations. It even has some blank forms at the end for your children to write their own stories!
