Review: Best book for beginners who wish to create real-to-life drawings - I have a shelf full of drawing books, and many say they are for beginners—this book actually is. It truly offers step-by-step instructions with plenty of examples and explanations for learning how to create real-to-life drawings. One feature I like most is the focus on basic techniques such as shading, constructing basic shapes, and creating 3D shapes. All books discuss these key principles, but How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist gives extensive examples and practice exercises that are lacking in every other beginner drawing book I own. The 30-day format is a good way of organizing the material to be learned, but it improves on other books by making the drawing examples progressively more difficult—going from simple shapes to portraits. Here again, How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist is a major improvement over other beginner books I own because the how-to examples extend over multiple pages with detailed steps, not just a few skeleton sketches and then the final polished product. The author has put a lot of thought into creating the examples and explaining the techniques used for creating the final realistic drawing. Out of the 29 drawing books I’ve bought, these are the books I have found to be most helpful so far: For basic instruction 1. How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist— Gives a daily routine that goes from simple to complex. This has been the best book to get me drawing daily and making steady progress. I spend more than one day on each lesson, though. For practice 1. Draw Like an Artist: 100 Flowers and Plants —has plenty of practice drawings to try. 2. The Artist’s Complete Book of Drawing Projects, Step-by-Step—steps are not nearly as detailed as they are in How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist, but the projects are decent. The projects in this book are best attempted after finishing the 30 days of How to Draw and Think Like a True Artist. Review: Perfect for the artist in you or your family! - My son just graduated from Chico State with a BA in art. He wanted something to continue working on his skills. He said the book is great for that. I was afraid it would be too basic for him. He says it is great!

Great Sketching Course
This is exactly what I was looking for. i wanted to take up sketching which I have not done in 50 years! It starts with the basics of tools and perspective then works through examples for you to do using the techniques it teaches. The book is a good size paperback with areas to practice the drawings and techniques. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to learn the basics and build their drawing skills.

Very Good so far
This book will teach you how to draw if not even draw better if you already know how. It goes from the very basic from techniques how to handle lines to drawing basic shapes such as apples, coffee cups, and animals, and face shapes. I would defiantly recommend this book, as it has the material in it to draw exercises and you can free-style like I do and draw directly on an ipad/drawing tablet/mouse and transfer the images from those devices onto the machine of your choice not literally, but sight-seeing wise this can be done. 4 out of 5 stars

Consider This A Workbook
i have over 900 art books so consider myself as having a bit of knowledge on this topic. This seems to be one of those Amazon print on demand type of books which I generally find not very useful. It doesn't have the highest quality of printing, paper or binding, but the content is great. This is not a book to just read for information. It is set up as course with 30 days worth of exercises. I just started using the book but I am finding it very useful. I don't like to write in my books but this is really a workbook and exercises are included in the book that you need to complete. If you are loking for a hand's on book, this is a great one! I highly recommend it!
