Romantic Impressions, Bk 1: 9 Solos in Romantic Style for Early Intermediate to Intermediate Pianists

I've been play for about 2 years (experienced beginner) and was looking for soothing and challenging music that fit my skill level where I can really concentrate on the nuances of the piece. This Martha Mier book is perfect for me. The pieces are short, pretty and not too difficult to learn. These pieces are written so they can be played at a high performance level while not being too complex for the grade level, and sound great. This book is for experienced beginners who can read music fairly well and is a excellent supplement to adult series level 2+ books. Marta understands skill level well, better than other piano course book authors.

I have spent my year of pandemic seclusion trying to learn to play my keyboard. I had several books of music for the beginner or intermediate student, but most pieces were too short or too simple to interest me much. But I had both Romantic Impressions, Bk 2, which I loved, and Bk 4, which was too difficult for me. So Bk 3, of course, was perfect for me, The pieces are varied and so lovely that I don't mind practicing them over and over. I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to improve their beginning or intermediate piano skills.

Accessible, melodic pieces are perfect for practicing proper fingering and technique. The pleasing melodies and harmonic accompaniments are simple to learn, so one can focus on details of playing to perfect technique or address technical errors (or bad habits in my case) . Because they're so pretty you'll forget you're working on technique! They're also perfect for practicing musicality.Also, I'm working them one at a time until I can play at suggested tempo. That way they become a 'faster fingers' drill for me (Fyi, if the pieces seem to easy for you, be sure to check out the tempo markings, you might be more challenged!!)

Romantic Impressions Book 3 arrived in excellent condition. Went directly to the piano and enjoyed playing the beautiful music. After retirement, I have more time to discover new music thus prompting me to purchase more Martha Mier Piano Books. Thank You....Violetta

This book was recommended by my piano teacher and I am very happy with it. The songs are lovely. I am an intermediate player and the songs in this book are somewhat challenging without being to difficult.

Some of the songs so really simlar in my opinion which is why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5. Other than that it is a very fun little book that would apeal to many beginner students of all ages

I was looking for something w/a nice melody that I could play right away that wasn’t complicated. I’m glad I chose this small piano book. I like how easy it is to read and play the notes within the measures; as it is printed nicely and large enough to read clearly. I also enjoyed playing these solos since they are beautiful and expressive. Overall, a warm and romantic style of solos worth trying out for intermediate level players by Martha Mier.

I've had this book for 3 weeks now and LOVE IT ! It is easy to keep open. The music is most beautiful to play and is relaxing. I'm going to buy my piano teacher of 50 years ago the same book as I know she too will enjoy it. Once you get the tunes in your head, the music continues on even after having played it. I highly recommend it. It is for intermediate pianists. I have small hands yet is comfortable to play the notes.

Great alternative to classics music at an advanced level

Second ouvrage acheté de Marta Mier (le premier étant "character pieces in romantic style book 2)),Les mélodies sont plaisantes à jouer, l'usage des pédales est fortement recommandé. Si vous aimer le style romantique, et favoriser l'émotion ressentie à la technique : cet ouvrable est pour vous, et développer votre propre "style/rythme". le livre ne présente pas de gros challenges pour un autodidacte.on les retrouvent sur Youtube pour avoir aussi des références.Je l'utilise regulièrement et c'est un tres bel investissment.Jouer du piano c'est bien, le ressentir c'est mieux en oubliant l'aspect académique !

Simple but effective and musical. Enjoyable to play. Recommend it to early intermediates without too much practice if at all.
