huge
For absinthe spoons these are quite large, or I've always had the use of much smaller ones.I actually haven't had absinthe in easily a decade or more, since I do not drink since I'm on meds that interact with alcohol poorly and I never did like drinking alcohol anyway, so maybe I'm misremembering how big the absinthe spoons I've used in the past are. I do think these are large, though, even considering I could be misremembering.I'm using these for crafting, maybe making cuff bracelets or something like that, since the spoons always have pretty filigree work, and these are no disappointment in that regard. The punch/cut work on the spoon itself is nice and evocative of those Bohemian users of old, somewhat art nouveau. The metal is...bright and shiny, and has some strength to it, but some of the edges are a little on the sharp side. Not knife-sharp, but not filed smooth to be comfortable to handle. I will need a mandrel or something to roll these into a cuff shape because they are not soft enough to bend by hand alone, so they have decent workmanship. They will more than easily fit the sugar cube for the whole absinthe ritual, they will probably fit 2 or 3 cubes, really, they are that big.

Embrace the Mystique and Magic of the Green Fairy
If you enjoy Absinthe, you know it is as much about the mystique as anything else. Absinthe is theater, before you take that first smell or sip. You need this obscure spoon to have good theater. Absinthe does a thing called “louche” that turns it milky-cloudy white. When you drip ice-cold water into Absinthe, you get louche. If you pour Absinthe over ice, and the ice melts, the melted ice water doesn’t do the same thing. Wouldn’t melted ice be ice cold water? Mystique; that is what makes Absinthe a little more fun.You pour Absinthe into the glass. It is strong if you smell it, totally will burn your nostrils. Place this spoon over the glass (it rests on the glass edge), place a sugar cube on the spoon, and slowly spoon ice cold water onto the sugar cube. The sugar dissolves, the Absinthe louche happens and turns cloudy white, and you slowly dilute the Absinthe to a drinkable state. I like about three (3) parts water to one (1) part Absinthe, but this is still strong for many. Drizzle that ice-cold water slowly. Don’t mix, watch the cloud form in the glass. Now, before you drink, smell. Totally full of botanicals, much more than simply Anise. Sip and enjoy.I can never imagine needing six (6) of these spoons in a well-stocked home bar, too few people actually enjoy Absinthe. I will maybe use two (2) at most. If you make craft cocktails, if you use a cocktail smoker, if you use fancy ingredients or equipment, if you use specialized glassware based on the cocktails you mix, you need an Absinthe spoon.

Six Sexy Absinthe Spoons
Today I am the proud owner of six new absinthe spoons. Not my first foray but more ornate than my previous spoons.About this spoon, these are stamped metal. Which is connsumate with every absinthe spoon I own. There is some nice scoll work on them wich sets them apart a bit. There is a raised edge all the down each side. Should catch any undisolved sugar cube from going over the side prematurely. Also, has a nock on the handle to rest surely on the glass neat and sturdy no slippage here. All in all for the price and the look it's a great absinthe spoon. Good quantity too, 6 is a lot for me. Most of my mates are terrified of the green fairy, so I rarely use more than 3 at a time.If you need a trip with Lady Wormwood, these are a great choice.

These will make a beautiful flower for the yard.
They really are pretty and different than anything I’ve seen before. The metal looks like the design was punched out with a metal press. The area with the lacy design is flat, neat and smooth without any burrs. There are other designs that are punched into the metal for extra texture.I can see how they would be perfect for the purpose they were made for. There is a curve between the spoon and handle that would fit the rim of a glass and hold everything horizontal so the sugar cube could burn. But I’m up north. We don’t drink absinthe. Peppermint schnapps is the closest we’d get, I’d guess. So these will be used to make a gift for a neighbor. A flower for her garden.

Good quality
These spoons will rest nicely over any standard absinthe glass and have a nice vintage look to them. Really elevates the whole absinthe ritual n the French style, as opposed to pouring in simple syrup as Americans used to do in the height of the absinthe obsession. These are very fun for a party and I plan to use them the next time I gather with my writer and artist friends as I'm sure they'll appreciate them. Best paired with nice absinthe glasses and a fountain if you can swing it!
