It does get the matts out!!We have a golden doodle and with her fur being very wavy curly and straight all at once, she matts easily! This brush, manages to pull out and separate the matts, when it’s used correctly.At first glance it looks a little scary - it’s bascially a line of double hooks. And I will add it can cause discomfort if it is not used correctly on your pup. Find the Matt, wiggle the tool through and then repeat and use your fingers to help flatten and seperate.It does pull on the fur, but somehow our pip doesn’t seem to mind very much. Actually whilst I’m brushing her she licks the brush and has not tried to run away from it once.Over all, if you are looking for a way to de tangle your dog - this is the one!There are several of its kind from different brands on here, but this seemed to be the most reasonably priced.

Arrived promptly. Appreciated courtesy contact email from SmarterPaws owner offering assistance if any should be required. The comb arrived yesterday and I have used it both yesterday and today to groom my elderly German Shepherd dog. I tried it on my arm first and as per the product info it felt okay being pulled across my skin. His coat is very long and thick and was much in need of grooming after walks in the forest/ long grass; trips to the river; and, lying down in mud. I am really impressed with this comb. It has removed a lot of undercoat shedded hair and his coat is now shining. Taking my time the comb also allowed me to gentle tackle tangled/ matted areas and tease out the dirt and loose hair. Over the past two days I have spent a good few hours grooming my dog from nose to tail and he hasn’t protested at all whilst I used the comb. It has made my grooming task easier on both the dog and I and as a new user I would definitely recommend this comb. I’m sure the dog would too!

This is absolutely amazing! The picture is a quick 2 minute brush after opening the pack. The amount of excess hair it has gotten off is unreal, especially after spending at least 30 minutes this morning using a Furminator brush on my dog. I used this on my black collie dog who has medium length hair. As shown in the picture this brush is fantastic at getting the excess under coat off and it's really brought his coat up looking fantastic. This is by far the best brush I've had for my dogs and at the price it is, I'm just gutted I wasted £30 on a Furminator and all those other brushes I've gone through over the years. 100% recommended!

I was advised to get a Furminator by my vet as one of my cats, the short haired one, had mats as she had developed a touch of arthritis in her hind legs and couldn't groom herself efficiently. I bought it and used it, it was OK, did the job but my other cat is long haired and it was no use on her at all. I was looking to buy a Furminator for long haired cats but came across this product and it blows the Furminiator out of the water. It is suitable for both cats, the short haired one loves it and will sit still to be groomed with it for a good half hour. The longer haired cat is slowly getting used to it but she is getting used to it. The comb removes more dead hair than any other brush or comb I have used before and this is now the only tool I use for grooming them. Love it.

It took couple of brushes for my cocker to get used to it but she is fine now and my labour absolutely loves it he sat happily being brushed from the start.The bigger end with less hooks is great for any little matts your dog picks up after having mad roll arounds and the end with lots of hooks is great to deshed.It's nothing like those old wire brushed which I always thought were too harsh for a dogs skin, I mean how would we like wire being yanked through our hair.This is gentle for our furbabies skin and gently takes away the matted hair. Of course there is sometimes abit of a tug depending on how bad the matt is but that isn't the brushes fault, it does it's job.Well worth every penny

The Smarter Paws Professional Deshedding Comb was initially bought for dealing with my young GSD. She has a medium length coat and hated being brushed. After reading several reviews, I bought one. My young GSD did not make the usual fuss, nor run off, nor try to eat the comb, I managed to groom her coat thoroughly, especially her rump, whilst she lay there looking happy with the whole session, she even voluntarily turned over so I could do the other side! Loved how easy this comb made the process, so took it to my friends, also very impressed, so I bought one for them as well, for their GSDs. Well worth the money as there is nothing cheap or nasty about the construction of the comb, it appears that it will last for her lifetime, if not longer :)

This is a well made product and worked well over whole body. My dog has long hair on her tail and a larger matt had built up and this was harder to use there without getting a bit tangled. But otherwise a good product.

This took a couple of times of using it to get it right so that it didn't pull the dogs hair. It makes at good job of removing the unwanted hair,however our older sheltie was not keen as he has very longhair. The other onehas shorter hair and she didn't mind so much. You have to be careful not to pull the comb to hardshort strokes l found were the best.
