TAPO TC40 Security Cameras - My Review
I initially had a few problems with both my TC40 Cameras dropping out and losing connection to my Internet, even though the Deco Mesh Network was also manufactured by the same company - TP Link. I contacted their Technical Dept for assistance, and they gave me loads of hints and tips to solve the issue, but unfortunately, it didn't, as they still kept dropping off the Network. Even after pairing just one camera directly to my main Internet Suppliers Modem, I still had a similar issue. So it a was a general rather than a specific connection issue. After going deep into the TAPO App, I found a setting that I decided to change, and since then the two cameras have performed superbly, and no drop out - so seems Ive solved the Drop Out Issue myself. Apart from that Hic Up - I cannot fault the clarity of the cameras in both Daylight and "Smart Mode" in the total darkness - the picture quality as fabulous at all times of the day/night. The TAPO App is also first class as you have so many options you can choose how to control the cameras, and what info you want it give you, when you want Notifications, and not etc etc. Its faultless in its Options and simplicity to control what you want the cameras to do for you. For the price I bought these 2 x TC40 for, I believe I got excellent value for money, over and well below other manufacturers cameras I could have purchased, for a lot more money. So superb value for money, once I was able to overcome in infuriating Drop Out situation. One simple change in the Network Settings made the whole difference and stopping the Drop Out situation. Easy to place in the correct position, easy to Set Up on the TAPO App, and set the requirements you need from these Security Cameras. Money well spent now the gremlins have gone.

An excellent security camera.
Now first of all let it be known that I’m an absolute technodinosaur so anything involving Wi Fi, Internet and related issues is a foreign country to me. Having said that, this camera was a doddle to set up. App was easy to navigate and all pairing issues went like clockwork. The camera itself is excellent. Clear video and audio and picks up motion and persons even on low (3) sensitivity. Access to video clips on the app is straightforward. I’m using a 128 Gb card and there seems to be loads of storage and with loop recording the camera just records over earliest recordings. Owing to my total inability to understand smartphone technology and connectivity to the camera I’m left with one irritating issue which does not diminish my review of the camera, merely emphasises my down comings. The phone gives an audible notification of motion detection which is picked up on my Garmin watch. Yes, I completely get the irony of a techno numpty having a smart watch but it alerts my wife if and when I fall off my bike, an increasingly more common event these days. Consequently, as I live on a fairly busy thoroughfare the accursed phone and watch conspire to annoy me by audibly alerting me each time someone walks past, which is the camera’s function, but is somewhat distracting when it does so every couple of minutes. There is undoubtedly a way of switching off notifications, but it is thus far out of my area of competence to find it. Nevertheless, a cracking piece of kit and for the price an excellent buy.

Excellent camera for home security.
A very good quality external camera. I wanted something to monitor my vehicles on the driveway and this didn’t disappoint. Easy set up with motion detection and exceptional image quality. All features are accessible from the app on your phone and any captured videos can be easily downloaded. Subscribe for unlimited storage capacity or use memory card in the unit.

Great value easy to use.
I waited for a while before reviewing. I can now say it’s a great bit of kit and have no issues with the camera or the app. The auto track works well but it likes to look at the roses when they blow in the wind so I have disabled tracking for now. My 128gb card will store over a month’s worth of movement. As it is mains powered it watches all the time and saves to card the moments before movement is detected so you don’t miss a thing. Remote access is great I was so impressed I got a Tapo doorbell as well.

Perfect and so easy to set up and use
So far so good, excellent picture quality and so easy to set up using the TAPO app. Don’t scrimp on the micro sd card tho I used the recommended Mystor micro sd card. Hopefully, these will be all weatherproof, TAPO says they are so fingers crossed. The well known brand we have at the moment are so difficult to circumnavigate and unreliable. These cameras are very user friendly, much easier to use all round.

All you ever need from a security camera
I'm so very impressed with this camera. It's got some brilliant features and yet it's such a great price. It's the easiest thing ive ever set up in my life, once you have chosen your wi fi it pretty much sets itself up. I love the fact that the camera tracks and follows people and when it's dark 2 little spotlights come on so you can see in colour. The quality of the recording is brilliant and the audio is also very good. I have put a 128gb micro sd card in mine which I find is fine for the amount of recordings I get every day although you can have up to 500 gb. There's lots of options to choose from to tailor the camera to your specific needs. I'm so impressed with it I decided to buy another one for the other side of my bungalow, it's like having 2 mini robot security guards the way they move and look around 😁
