I thought that I was missing a charging base so I used my old charger. I was quick to begin my review until I went back to the seller's product page. Found out that the power adapter plug goes into the battery next to the battery terminals. So I went to my battery while it was charging and plugged in the new power adapter -- it is much better that I can see the charging state with my charging adapter. Better design than the old one. Will review on battery longevity later. I would have rather have an 18 V. stepped down to 12 V so the battery would last longer. Second, I am glad that they still sell 12 V. batteries so that I can continue to use my Black & Decker Cordless Drill/Screwdriver.

Like another reviewer said it is a bit of a tight fit plugging the charger into the battery but I discovered that it only needs to go partway in to make the connection, the light on the charger tells you when you have it in enough. The only odd thing is that when I got the battery, it was partially charged so I gave it a full charge and it only came up to 11.8 volts. I ran it down to 10.9v and re-charged it and it came up to 11.85v, maybe after a few charging cycles it will come up to or over 12v but it lasted a good time longer than the old batteries so that is not a deal breaker. One thing to be aware of is you can't use your old-style charger on this battery, you must use one for L-ion batteries.

How I can use the drill

This is not exactly what I expected. It is a third party battery, and does not work well with my Lion charger from Black and Decker, although it did come with a small charger of its own. So far it seems okay, but had I realized that it did not work with my charger, I probably would not have ordered it.

I somehow missed these Black & Decker Firestorm battery packs from DTDBBFU, thinking they were just another aftermarket Ni-MH replacement. A more careful reading of the description revealed these are Li-Ion powered! I thought to myself, "How am I to recharge these?" And read further that a charger is included.And these are nearly double the rating at 6Ah compared to 3600mAh. That means twice the runtime.When it arrived I was surprised how much lighter than the original battery. A big plus!I had to charge it before using it on my drill. And the battery fits like the original. Except the drill was now lighter and easier the handle. The drill worked as expected.I'm glad I tried these Lithium alternatives for the old NiCad/Ni-MH power tools. Nice little upgrade! I only took away 1 star for the charging unit. The plug was a very tight fit and I had trouble removing it after the battery was fully charged. The hole in the battery jack needs to be enlarged.
