G'day Mate! No Wait -- It's A Hot-tay Mah-tay Lat-tay! Yes, I'm A 'Murican, Can You Tell?
I saw this liquid concentrate tea product, thinking "Yerba Mate" was a brand name or something, unconsciously mispronouncing it in my Americanized gringo brain as rhyming with "great," and only discovered my error when I looked it up later. Don't judge me, I'm a coffee drinker most days!I ordered this because I enjoy iced tea and other tea drinks on occasion, but the only instant tea I seem to get my hands on is the powdered stuff that's usually loaded with sugar, which I try to stay away from because sugar is like poison to me. When I finally looked it up and realized it's actually a type of tea leaf and corrected my gringo brain, I was intrigued by the descriptions. Earthy with flavors reminiscent of walnut? Oh yes, count me in!I put the recommended 2T of tea in my cold water bottle (about 14oz), thinking I could always add a spot of local honey or a bit of Matcha powder if it wasn't to my liking, but turns out none of that was needed. I loved the taste; it's smooth, mild, and lovely. I wasn't reminded of walnuts (bummer), but rather an undertone of fruitiness, a hint of something that grows from the ground and hasn't ripened fully, waiting to blossom in my mouth with my first drink.Look, I'm not a sophisticated tea drinker. I like green tea the most, maybe some orange peckoe if I have any. This yerba mate tea not only makes my taste buds happy, but it's also very convenient being an instant concentrate that needs no refrigeration after opening. My lack of sophistication is only rivaled by my powerful laziness. But even that ultra-laziness is superseded by my ultimate lifelong need to pinch pennies... and I pinch hard! It's probably a superpower. At about $9 when I ordered this cute little 6oz bottle, which is only 6 servings (or $1.50 per cup o'tea), it doesn't feel like the best value to me. Maybe it's okay for a special event on occasion, a Sunday home brunch, something like that. But as good as it tastes and as dreamily convenient as it is, I can't see myself getting this regularly for the cost. My superpower won't allow it.I'm very glad I had the opportunity to try it, and that I've learned how to properly pronounce it, and I would recommend it to anyone else who would like to give it a shot (pun intended). I will finish it to the last drop and I will keep the cute bottle to use for something special. If it's in your budget, order it and enjoy!

Interesting and convenient.
I love to drink black tea all the time, and this concentrate intrigued me. I don't always have time or want to brew up a big batch, and I like the idea of having a concentrate on hand for a quick and flavorful drink. The concentrate blends easily with hot or cold water and has the distinct taste of black tea, but I wasn't wholly expecting the spiced flavor. I do not care for the warm spice notes in this tea, they're not ones that I like to drink for regular refreshment. Those who like cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg tastes in their drinks would probably love this one, and it is wonderful warmed with milk and sweetened for a comforting cold weather drink. I"m not sure exactly how those flavors came out so distinct given the ingredients, but they're what I taste when I drink this concentrate.Though I would have preferred a simple black tea flavor, I do like this tea concentrate for a quick and easy hot drink that's great for the holidays.Ingredients: Brewed Tea (Filtered Water, Maya Tea Four Horsemen Black Tea, Hibiscus, Basil, Chicory), Black Tea Extract, Salt, Green Tea Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Sodium Acid Sulfate (To Preserve Freshness).Maya Tea Shots Black Tea Concentrate, No Sugar, No Artificial Flavors or Colors, Easy To Make, 6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)

Not a fan of the flavor
I've never heart of tea concentrate before, so wanted to give this a go. I honestly just wasn't a fan of the flavor and the aftertaste it left in my mouth. I think a lot of people might enjoy it but it just wasn't for me. It is great for a little variety. It mixes well in hot or cold water. And, mixed really well in a smoothy.

Great flavor, but...
I'd never heard of tea concentrate, so when I saw this was available, I had to give it a try. The jug it comes in is heavy duty, as well as the included pump.I first tried a small mug of hot tea, using the amounts in the directions printed on the label (1 ounce of concentrate to 12 ounces of water). The first thing I noticed was the "cloudiness" of the final product. Usually, when I make a mug of hot tea, the liquid is clear. Clear, this is not... It looks more like tea with creamer in it. Then, I gave it a taste. The flavor was almost non-existent. I added another dose of the concentrate, and it still tasted weak. It was only after adding another dose, that I was finally able to taste the tea.I next tried making a tall glass of iced tea (1 ounce of concentrate to 16 ounces of water). Again, it wasn't clear, like iced tea normally looks. And, the flavor was very weak; basically like plain water. I had to almost quadruple the amount of concentrate to begin to taste the tea.Maybe it's just me (I like my tea (hot and iced) and coffee to have bold flavor)? I think the makers are on to a great idea here, but they just need to either crank up the flavor a bit or revamp the directions for the concentrate to water ratio.

A quick way to make Iced tea
Whenever I get something that needs to be added to water before consuming, I try to taste it by itself first. After opening the bottle, I smelled the tea. I got the hint of tea. I poured a little out into a 1/2 tsp measurer and tasted it. The concentrate was thick and "syrupy". It had a "mild" tea flavor, with hints of floral and lemon (probably from the citric acid). Because the concentrate was a mild flavor, adding it to the suggested amounts of liquid sort of made it a bit weak for my liking. If you like stronger flavored iced tea, the 6 servings concentrate won't go as far, making each serving a bit more expensive. This concentrate is very convenient, and a nice change. It might be nice to have on hand when you don't feel like waiting for the tea bag to flavor your water.
