Quite impressive and effective!
Quite impressive! Set-up super easy. At 7pm I placed the trap outside along the side of the house using the usb power and peanut butter for bait. At 10pm got the 1st rat and it was a good size! I have set up a camera so I could check. The light flashed and the tone that it emits isn’t obnoxious. Emptied, reset, and will update this review accordingly. Several years ago the road was expanded and new sewers put in. Since then the neighborhood has had a big rat issue. I wasn’t very hopeful of this product as I have tried several types of traps including the VERY expensive A24. The rats are very leery of the snap traps and none of them would go near the A24 after the 1st rat was killed. They like the wires under the hood of my vehicle and cost me 3k to fix it. I have my fingers crossed that this is the answer to my prayers.

Actually kills rats!! 🥳☠️
Have been battling rats all summer...due to my neighbors feeding feral cats, birds, and squirrels...also battling raccoons but this rat zapper hasn't helped with raccoons lol. These rats have been out during the day which really freaks me out. Eating my orchard fruit and berries in the berry patch. Scared theyre going to get my popcorn before it matures... Anywho I have tried the ratx poison, a flip bucket trap, essential oil sprays. None of them have worked! I installed it with 4 d batteries and set it out on my deck with some freeze dried liver dog treats. Was beeping with a dead rat in it before midnight! Super easy to dump the dead rat out into the dog poop bucket. This one didnt get any juice on the trap so I dont have to do a scrub on the sensor plates. Waiting for a battery order before I set up the 2nd one down in my wood shed. Built very sturdy and I like the waterproof cover - helps to know if it gets splashed by the garden hose it wont destroy the trap. Easy slide top and clear on off button. Directions were very concise as well. Would recommend 10/10. Quick set up. Efficient kill. Can use it over and over. Don't have to worry about my dog getting in poison. Will update later with how many rats we get. 9/28/25: 1 rat zapped in 1 night

It's vulnerable to rain and sun - BUT it did catch a mouse!
I have used several types of indoor electronic mouse traps (Victor) with great success, and I especially like the type that has a separate compartment where you can just toss the compartment with the mouse and attach a fresh mouse compartment. But I saw an actual rat outside, so I bought an Owltra electronic trap rated for rats. I liked it because it's rated for outside and has a cover to help protect the electronics. I caught a large field mouse after 8 days. It takes a while for the trap to attract; might be the smell of the plastic off-gassing. What I don't like about it is that you have to find a location to put it where the direct sun won't melt the battery compartment on top, and the rain won't get inside of it. So I wasn't able to place it on the path that the rat had taken, running around the back of my garage and then under my deck, because I would've had to place it in direct sun. I finally put it under the deck, forgetting that the deck boards have spaces between them that let in rain. After 8 days, I was standing on my deck and heard a beep. I put on disposible gloves, pulled the trap out from under the deck, turned it off, removed all four batteries, then gently worked the top off and saw the mouse. It looked asleep, and there was no debris around it. I wiped the metal plates carefully, but saw that there was some moisture on the metal plates, as well as the entry chamber, so I dried all the parts (maybe the mouse was wet when it entered?); rain did not get inside the battery chamber. I'm going to have to either use it inside, or else figure out some kind of housing to cover it that's both sun-proof and rain-proof before I put it back outside. Sort of defeats the purpose of having an outdoor trap with a plastic cover. I need to be able to put it right on the path where I saw the rat. I might try just putting the trap out at night or when it's cloudy, on days when there's no rain. But then it's a hassle because I might forget to bring it back inside later when there's sun or rain. BUT it does catch a mouse, for sure. I haven't seen the rat, so maybe it went somewhere else. One thing I particularly like about the Owltra trap is that the bait compartment is large. I used peanut butter. For the reviewers who said their trap didn't work after a few uses outside, I'm guessing it's the problem of keeping the trap out of the sun and rain. If you have a protected area, like a covered porch or a shed that's high enough underneath, that would work, but it might not be in the path of the rodents. The best place to position a trap is right on the path the rodents take, usually along a wall. Suggestion: The Owltra manufacturers might think about adding some kind of large, opaque plastic box to keep over it (with a hole for the rodent to enter the trap) and sell it separately for some reasonable amount.

They Work And No Mess
I bought these traps because a neighbor recommended this style of trap. The setup and use is simple, just add some peanut butter at the very end of the trap and the rat has to enter the trap and cross the electrified plates to get the food. I have been having issues with rats stealing food out of the chicken coop so I set one of these in the chicken run where I see them entering. The second night I caught one in the trap. I love that there is no mess and I do not worry about my chickens or my dogs getting caught in the trap. And since there are no poisons used, I just dumped it out in the field for nature to clean up. I recommend these traps to anyone with rat problems, indoors or outdoors.

No Regrets Here
These are the most efficient way to eliminate rodents. Big or small, rain or sunny by far the best. The beeping sound lets you know when one has been caught.

After many failure attempts to catch a very smart big rat roaming around the house, I finally got him with this electric shock trap.

Takes time for it to be effective so be patient. I followed the advice of another review, place with food source for 2 weeks. Then put the batteries in and turn on. After 4-5 weeks of nothing, it started to work, I’ve caught a rat a day! Been great.
