Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain) was born in Florida,Missouri in 1835 to John and Jane Clemens.His dad died when Sam was 11, so Sam supported himself as a typesetter starting at the age of 12. He went on to become a steamboat pilot, silver miner, journalist, editor,lecturer, inventor and America's greatest author. He authored some 30 books, such as The Prince and the Pauper, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.Sam Clemens died in 1910, but his legacy lives on more than one hundred years later.
