What's wrong with the critics?
I don't understand why some critics rate a movie like this poorly. It's like Jazz Singer and Coal Miner's Daughter which were great movies but also rated poorly. Abduction kept me on the edge of my seat and is a very good movie. There are so many "B" movies out there and when you come to one like Abduction it's a pleasure. My review is on the critics - they're nuts.Okay, I'm still watching Abduction and I will critique the movie poorly when I see something like when attacked in the train. All very good except why didn't Nathan take the gun and silencer after subduing his attacker? That really sticks out. Also, when Nathan was talking with CIA after eating and the opposing men were on the roof shooting everyone, the one CIA agent remaining on the ground looked up just as the men with sniper rifle retracted from sight so the agent didn't see them was too staged and unlikely to happen. In fact, it was stupid which allowed the sniper to easily shoot more agents. I really don't think the CIA would be so incompetent. Very bad on the movie producer and directors part. If I see anything more, I would reduce my rating down. One more thing, but it's not enough to change from a 5*. When his father instructed him to trust in him and lead his attacker out into the parking lot, hurting his ankle was unnecessary because they were on the run. We want Nathan to be good to know how to fall without hurting himself. And why the delay in his father shooting the attacker allowing time for Nathan actually to be shot. Both of them should have been on a full run and his father takes the attacker out on the run. That would have been a real cool scene. The wait is nowhere near the amount of trust built compared to an immediate shot on the run. Another poor movie producing thing.

Stellar Film with Stellar Performers
I have seen Abducton twice, and for me to even see a film twice, it must be something great. Taylor Lautner plays a high school senior who seems to have everything, but he always felt there was something off. He did an excellent job in the film, and I was on edge the whole time. He has the potential to become an action star, and this was a smooth transition from the Twilight role of Jacob Black. Do not get me wrong, Lautner did a wonderful job in the Saga too, and the books and movies were beautifully and tastefully done. There were some sad points in Abduction, and a good part of it made me relate to my teenager days. Of course, they were not that extreme as his was. Lily Collins was great as his admiration as well, as I never even see her work before Abduction. I think she will have a fine career as an actress ahead of her.I am not going to give out spoilers, as I feel they ruin everything. There is not a lot of blood or heavy fighting in this, or so how I see it. I was able to completely follow through on the plot in Abduction, as I mostly get confused and lost during action films. Which is the main reason why I hardly see any.If you are up for a great performance, and lots of stunts done by Lautner himself, you are in for a sweet treat. Just do not expect to rip his shirt off, because you will only get a peek in Abduction. Besides, that is not what makes Taylor Lautner a fine actor.(For the record, I am an adult, so hopefully you did not think this was written by a lovesick tween.)

Worth seeing if you can get a weekend rental deal
I love action movies of all kinds so despite the fact that I don't particularly care for the leading man I decided to give this movie a try.Cons:*Acting- Taylor wasn't terrible but he doesn't portray emotion very well. Nathan's character is outgoing (party boy) reckless (rides on top of a car at 65 mph without anything to hold him) seemingly a bad boy (drives a motorcycle and goes to a therapist for anger management). Yet he's a complete softie ("What mom, you don't trust me because I stayed out late and forgot to check-in first?") that cries multiple times in the movie with no expression on his face while water drips from his eyes.*Lacks a strong connection between characters and audience- There are some movies that you are so wrapped up in the story that you cringe or gasp when bad things happen to the leading actor or actress but in Abduction I really could not have cared less if the Nate or his girl were killed. I think the only people I felt sorry for were the parents who raised Nathan that were shot. That's about it. And they had some of the smaller roles in this movie.*Romance- I normally have no issues with on screen loves but this one annoyed me when the writers kept including cheesy scenarios and dialogue like, "Nathan, are we going to die?" Then Nathan slowly walks up to her and grabs her pulling her close. "No. I won't let that happen." That is one of a few. The way it was purposely made so dramatic just really bothered me.*No surprises- I don't know if it's just because I have watched too many action movies but there wasn't anything that made me think "oh wow I wasn't expecting that!" It wasn't predictable but I didn't think it was very inventive either. I think the most surprise I had was *SPOILER ALERT* when Nathan's biological father shot to bad guy in the end. I expected they would give Nathan an "epic" and unrealistic fight. I'm glad that did not happen. *END SPOILER*Pro:Action- I think they got it right on with the action and it started early at about 30 minutes in which made me very happy! Considering the fact that the majority of Abduction consists of action it is what makes this movie worth watching (at least at a rental price).

Definitely Worth Watching
Not perfect, but definitely a good watch. This movie will entertain most people. Keeps you engaged, and I really resonated with the main character (Taylor Lautner) as he struggled to figure out who his real parents were. The character who played his next door neighbour/girlfriend also did very well.

It's ok but I'm watching the dvd.
I wouldn't have gone to the cinema to catch this having seen it from the comfort of an armchair --- just didn't have enough going for it in my view.Couldn't fault the supporting actors, Sigourney Weaver, Alfred Molina, Jason Isaacs, Maria Bello and the late ever reliable Michael Nyqvist. Would jump at the chance of catching them together in a film. Sadly we see little of them and much more of Taylor Lautner and Lily Collins, two young actors who get the bulk of the screen time. Not impressed. Phil Collins daughter has moved on and has put in a stunning performance in the latest addition to the 'Bundy' saga. The phrase 'could do better' certainly comes to mind watching this earlier film and one of them has delivered.Had there been a warning with the film such as 'Teens Only' I wouldn't be sitting here writing this review. Fair enough it's a good watch for Taylor Lautner fans.102 minutes, English subtitles, plenty of bonus features.

Abduct-tainment
We sat and watched this with popcorn on a movie night in and found it rivetting.Good entertainment, with thankfully, not too many "popcorn moments" so I didn't have to clean up much mess.I don't know just what I was expecting but I did find it great with not too much thought required. I want to be entertained, not sit trying to figure out "who dun it" and that is what this film did for me.I thoroughly recommend it, and I'll be watching again soon.

Abduction - Awesome! β₯
An absolutely superb action film, mega exciting from the off and all the way through I thought! Taylor Lautner is a fantastic action hero, and the acting is pretty brilliant. I'll not spoil the plot for anyone who hasn't seen it, but if you haven't seen it, you should! X

Forget The Title!
Great film, but to us the title was misleading. When we first saw it, it was quite hard to see where the abduction came in. Really it`s not about someone being abducted, but about someone being protected, and what happens when that protection breaks down. It`s exciting, compelling and very entertaining. We enjoyed it.
