Q: Can this be used to determine solid gold from filled or coated gold pieces?

These testers can determine the gold or silver quality in a piece. It cannot determine plating or solid. But if you scratch deep enough past the outer layer you can get a determination of the fill underneath.

Q: What is the shelf life of the acids in the plastic bottles?

If stored in a cool dark place the acid bottles last up to 6 months for silver, 9 months for platinum and 2 years for the others.

Q: Will the platinum test cover all platnium group metals? (Want to make sure it will pick up paladium...)
