History of Africa for Kids: A Captivating Guide to African History, from Ancient Times through the Middle Ages to the Modern Era (Making the Past Come Alive) : History, Captivating: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Fascinating read - I bought this book for my granddaughter, as Africa is part of her national curriculum. I'm in the middle of reading it and want one as a reference book for myself. The layout and print is reader- friendly, with illustrations, maps and photos. The book is divided into sections with a series of questions to follow. The answers are adjacent. What might have been useful in addition would be a glossary and an index. The book has shown up my adult ignorance and I intend to read it from cover to cover. Review: This book vividly traces the history of the African continent. Moreover, the reader will travel via pages to Ancient Egypt, the Kingdom of Kush, the Ghana Empire, the Kanem-Bornu Empire, the Mali Empire, Medieval Africa, European Colonization, and Decolonization. It is a well-written book for kids. Overall, it is a well-researched book. This book targets young readers. It analyses the significance of Ancient Africa and Kingdoms such as Kerma Kush and Cathrage, to name a few. Also, it focuses on the Roman expansion in Egypt and northern Africa. Moreover, it examines the Empire of Ghana. The reader will learn vital information regarding the socio-political and economic development of the various people in Ancient Africa. It is both interesting and informative. I was surprised by all the references to Egypt but that is explained in the book.
