Seth's Bike Hacks Brought Me Here
So, I recently ordered the POC VPD Air knee and elbow pads and I absolutely hated them! They just felt awkward and unconformable to me. So I sent them back. Fast forward a week and I'm watching Seth's latest video and he casually mentioned that he picked up a pair of these and they were comfortable and he liked them. Seth is usually spot on, so I decided to give them a try. OMFG I love these! If you don't need DH level gear these are for you! I quickly forget they are even on, they are so comfortable. They are pricey, even more than the POC gear I returned... Also both the POC and Kali sizing charts measure me at large and I definitely had to have XL for both brands...But, other than that, yeah, buy these, you won't be sorry!

Didn't make it very far...still
I ordered these based on reviews and popularity. While they fit as expected and the silicone is a clever way to keep them in place, they didn't make it to the trail. The issue started before I got that far. The first thing mentioned from the manufacturer is that they should be discarded or replaced if they show DENTING. Well, that's how they came out of the package, DENTED. Perhaps if it weren't send in an envelope I would have had the opportunity to damage them myself. For what they cost, you'd think they would be worth putting in a box for shipping. I'll write a real review once all this is resolved.Edit: they sent me replacements, very fast. I will say that they are very simple and I stand by the silicone being clever. I had the misfortune of actually using them (not just wearing them for a ride) and they just weren't there. I don't know how, but I'm bloody directly under where the main protection is. (Or wasn't) I purchased the right size according to the website but I guess I should have gone smaller? Lesson learned. Oh, also, if you're running Chesters or similar pedal, DO NOT let the material on the back of the touch a pin at all. That isn't Velcro coming loose my friends, it's your high dollar "knee pads" life expectancy cut down to nothing. HARD pass on these pads friends, there are better ones out there for less.

Is there a perfect knee pad for mountain biking?
I do whatever Seth says... you can call me a lemming, but these are better than any other knee pad I've used. Sizing chart seems spot on.

Highly recommended for serious MTB
Bought these a few hours after taking a fall and scraping my knee up pretty bad. I then took these to the Allegrippis trail system (very rough terrain in some places) and proceeded to not fall for the entire 5 hours I was there riding at breakneck speeds. I'm convinced that these contain pure, concentrated good juju.In all seriousness, I've simulated some crashes with these to see how they'll work. They do a great job of staying in place, and they absorb impacts to the front and sides of the knee. They have side gel pads sewn in to the lining to protect you while hip sliding. They're also very breathable. I highly recommend these.

Great protection & comfort. Questionable stitching.
After going to REI and trying out all the knee pads, I wasn't entirely impressed by the comfort, fit, or protection of the options they had available at the time. After reading reviews of these pads, and some youtube videos recommending them, I decided to give these a try.PROS: I used the sizing guidelines. They fit great. While doing an intense ride tonight, I didn't even notice them, nor did I have to adjust them at all. No bunching. I am really impressed by this. They breath pretty well, and the protection is solid compared to other similar pads.CONS: Out of the package, the stitching on one of the adjacent side pads had already come loose. For $85 this just isn't a sustainable option for me.I bought these through amazon, but they were sent by backcountry. Luckily backcounty has me covered, and are sending out a new pair. Hopefully this was just a fluke.

no problem with pedaling
I was hesitant about wearing knee pads as I thought they would inhibit my pedaling. I do not even notice they are on. They work good. We have rocky trails in this part of Arizona. I fell yesterday and didn't even feel the fall. The other reason I was hesitant is that in the summer I do not wear by elbow pads due to the added heat they generate. However, now that I have turned 75, I think it is time to ride with more protection. I used to ride FINS all the time (you tube it) but now I primarily ride Dogbone. Happy Trails.By the way, measure 4 inches or so above the knee for good sizing. The top Velcro keeps it in place very well.

VERY comfortable and not too hot.
I crashed mountain biking and banged my elbow pretty hard, swelled up pretty good. Had to go the urgent care at Kaiser for x rays and return to see orthopedist. Small fracture and a bursitis. Cost for my copays and x rays was $160.Ordered the KALI elbow and knee pads. Cost was $160.Yup, the universe has a sense of humor. The knee and elbow pads are SUPER comfortable. After a few pedals you don’t even notice they are on. The rubber grip inside the cuff keeps them in place well while pedaling. Airflow is very good. I have ridden in warm but not hot weather and they seem to breathe fine. Don’t think they’ll be too hot come summer.Had one very low speed off where I landed directly on my knee, pad stayed in place and I didn’t feel a thing. Can’t attest to high speed crash protection yet, and have not tested elbow pads yet, but so far so good. They are relatively short. They don’t offer as much shin or forearm protection as some of the bulkier downhill pads, but are great for more pedal heavy rides. So comfortable I actually wear them, so that’s the biggest endorsement.
