The Secret Soldier: The Story of Deborah Sampson

Review from a second grader
This is a book about Deborah Sampson, who wants to go to the army in the Revolutionary War, but there are no girls allowed. What I liked most about the book was how she transformed into a boy and how well she acted like one too. My favorite part was at the end, when she told her captain that Robert was not a boy and was actually Deborah Sampson. I would recommend this book for nonfiction readers. --FW

For children
I was disappntionointed to find this was a children's book. There was no mention of this in the description. Other than that, the book was fine. New condition.

Solid for pre-teens
I just personally think this is an important story for people to know about outside of the normal battle ones that kids are taught in school. I read this as a kid and it just always stuck with me.

Revolutionary War childrens book
This was used with fourth graders as adjunct to their social studies unit, and the kids LOVED it.It is a real account of a young girl who wanted to be a soldier, which was not even considered in that day, and how she attempted to make that happen.

My 10 year old son loved it
My son read this for Battle of the Books in his school. Great book and story. I was happy that it was about a female soldier and that my son enjoyed it.
