Q: How big is the hole on a hummingbird house? Thank you!

It's a great house and new to them so no one used it this year, but plenty big for hummingbirds and too small for others. I didn't measure it as it's hanging

Q: Hummingbirds do not nest in “houses”, they nest in the open?

Evidently, according to the literature, hummingbirds prefer nesting in outdoors (trees, brush, etc) , but right now I'm watching my fave hummingbird forlornly sitting on the branch of a bush close to my feeder in a 29 mph wind with temp just at freezing and snow blowing around, so I wish I had one for him. He might or might not use it, but the literature says sometimes they will use it to shelter from storms, so I wish I'd ordered this 2 weeks ago and given him the option. I keep changing the feeders so he at least has unfrozen food and un-snow covered feeder.

Q: What size heat shrinkable film should i get to protect thusbird house from moisture and mildew?

I wouldn't. It isn't susceptible to either. I've had mine up for years with no problem except raccoons or squirrels knocking them down

Q: Can you put bird feed in it?

Yes you can but, some birds will feed, however they will not nest in it.
