This rod is great. Plenty of back bone and a fast action tip. You won't find a better rod for the price.

My personal opinion is that this should be marketed as a premium catfishing rod. Pros: The s glass rod is strong but has sufficient flex to it. The guides are stout enough to handle large fish. The chartreuse tip practically glows making it easy to see with low light if a fish is biting. The attention to detail is quite impressive. I'm not a fan of rubber handles and grips, but for a catfish rod, I don't know if it gets better. The butt is rubber and is comfortable for fighting large fish. I personally like 2 piece rods as they are easy to transport. Cons: I'm not a fan of the rubber handles, so they will take time to get used to. I always go with cork, but for a catfish rod, I think it makes plenty of sense. Really, if you know that this is a stout rod that works well for bigger bottom feeders and you buy it with that intent, I think you will absolutely love the design of the rod. On a separate note, I'm out of Texas and there may be uses up north that I'm not thinking of, but for down south, I'll use it for catfish . Also, the packaging is superb. It was in plastic, in a very strong tube, in a box.

Although I haven't had a chance to use it fishing yet, I'm very impressed with the quality and feel of the KastKing KONG 7' medium power casting rod. As suggested by the description, it feels extremely sturdy - particularly for a medium power fast action rod - but the weight is still quite reasonable. There seems to be less sensitivity than you'd find in a "standard" medium power rod, but that's a reasonable compromise for a model optimized for heavier fish. Also, of note, the rod was well wrapped during shipping in a protective tube.

Rod has a broken guide. I’ve contacted kast king so we’ll see. Update. Kast king support has got back with me and say they have sent out a replacement rod. Still have heard nothing about the Kast king rover 50 with no drag. But hey, at least they are replacing the rod. Update. Kast king sent out a new rod. But. This one is worse than the original. This one has 2 broken guides. They say the guide rings are titanium. But they’re not. Guides are plastic and very fragile, apparently. So, back to emailing Kast king support. Update. Kast king finally got back with me about the 2nd rod. Took em about 8 days to respond. So now they say they will refund the rod. We will see. How long is that going to take. Been emailing last king support for the past 2 months trying to resolve this issue. They for sure ain’t in no hurry to support their customers. Update. Still waiting on that refund they said they would issue a week ago. Nothing yet. Update. Finally got the refund from kastking. Talkin about 2-3 months of back and forth and waiting for them to r respond. I would suggest not buying anything kastking. Because this rod is supposed to be heavy duty for big fish. If it can’t even make it through the mail without falling apart how is it going to handle a big catfish? It’s not. Guide inserts will be popping off while you try to reel in the fish. This rod is trash and the rover 50 was also trash it has no drag. But they refuse to even acknowledge my emails about the reel. Maybe the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Don’t buy kastking. You’d be better off going down to your local Walmart for your fishing gear.
