Everyone needs a chef’s knife like this
All Clad is known for its really high quality pots and pans. I am lucky to have one in my collection, and I absolutely adore it for its amazing heat distribution - it is the one I always use first. So when I was looking to add a large chef’s knife to my cutting arsenal, I thought I’d give an All Clad knife a try - previously I hadn’t known that they even make knives. My other knives, a medium paring knife and a serrated knives, are Wusthof Classic. They have never given me a hard time when cutting, but their large knives are out of my price range. This All Clad chef’s knife is much more affordable, and after trying it, I think it’s as good or better than my Wusthof knives. This thing is sharp. It is not serrated, but I tested it with various vegetables, including tomatoes, notorious for not cutting easily with a flat blade. This thing sliced through the tomatoes like they were nothing, without crushing the juice out of them, and had no problems with the skin… a true miracle! This knife is comfortable in my hand, thick enough that I can achieve a cutting rocking motion without worrying about my fingers, and has a good weight to it - hefty enough to cut through tough things, but lightweight enough that your hand doesn’t tire. It is also an elegant looking knife, with a full tang and three very sturdy rivets. With proper sharpening, I have a feeling that this knife will last the rest of my life. In the future, if I need additional knives, I will turn to All Clad for super high quality at an affordable price point!

A little disappointed on the lack of sharpness

Good Weight - Good Balance
This chef’s knife does have good weight and balance and it arrives very sharp. The handle is well crafted, contoured and smooth. No burrs whatsoever. It’s a little longer than 5 inches and the blade is a full 8 inches in length. It feels like a long knife, the point is way out there. The edge is very thin. Definitely no prying with this knife. I’m not running a commercial kitchen here, so my use is simply residential. I slice vegetables mostly, raw chicken occasionally. This knife is staying sharp through all my moderate use. I have no complaints, but I’m not beating it very hard. The first time I sliced up a sweet potato it stained the blade, curiously (it’s not a very high polished finish). Initially I had some difficulty getting it clean. I scrubbed it with an abrasive pad with little result. After drying the blade, I was then able to simply rub it off with a cloth, odd. Anyway, seems like a decent knife overall. It should provide many years of service, I’m sure.

Quality knife - sharp, balanced, well-manufactured
Just about everyone is aware of the quality products that All-Clad manufacturers. I read online that All-Clad has the highest standard for the materials they use, especially their cookware - and I think it’s true. This 8-inch chef’s knife from All-Clad continues that tradition of quality. This knife is very sharp. Straight out its box it passed the “paper cutting test” (holding a sheet of paper – printer paper is best - firmly at the top with one hand, draw the blade down through the paper, heel to tip, with the other hand. The knife should glide easily through the paper). My hands are not very big, but this knife has good balance and is easy to grip and manipulate. Considerably heavier than cheaper knives. The rivets on a knife are usually good predictors of how long it will hold together. The rivets on this one is triple riveted, and the rivets look strong. The handle itself is POM – (short for Polyoxymethylene) - which is a really durable synthetic material that is also moisture and heat-resistant (yeah, I had to look that up) – so it’s unlikely you’re going to see a rusty knife down the road. I’m a little disappointed this didn’t include a basic sheath for storage when not in use, but those can be had for fairly cheap online. I have about 5 chef’s knives in my drawer, at least one is more expensive than this one. But this one will probably become my favorite since it really sharp, is well balanced, and the price is reasonable. It’s an impressive knife made by an impressive company - and I’m happy I ordered it.

wasn't impressed
Not a bad knife, not a great knife. I feel like its alot overpriced for what it is. Used it at work for a little bit and dropped it once and the tip broke off. I have another knife that was about the same price and has been dropped multiple times over the years with no issues... Also pretty much every knife I've ever bought, even the cheaper ones all have the type of steel printed on the blade somewhere and this one doesn't show it anywhere so is it really the type of steel they say? I've had a couple made of the same material and never had issues. The handle is comfortable but that's about the only good thing I can say about it. If you're gonna spend $100 on knife, there are much better choices.

Sharper than it seems
All-Clad Forged Steel Chef Knife 8 Inch Kitchen Knife Set, Knife Block Set, Kitchen Knives This is a great knife from All-Clad. It has a good weight to it, and is easy to hold and clean. I will caution anyone who uses it to know it is much sharper than it looks. That can be a good or bad thing depending on the user. I have used this for times when I need a very sharp clean cut, and this knife never disappoints. Another great product from All-Clad.

Excellent knife
I am very impressed with this knife. I know it is made in China with German steel but it certainly is the best quality knife that I have at this price range, and even outshines some of my more expensive knives. Out of the box the blade is extremely sharp. It cuts everything I tried it with, with ease, including tomato’s - which surprised me. The knife itself is comfortable in the hand and the blade thick enough that you are not going to be striking anything with your knuckles when cutting. The handle is well made - full tang blade - and the rivets are thick and strong. Over all this is a knife to last a lifetime and is pleasing to use as it is so well made that you enjoy using it because it works so well. Very highly recommended.
