How things have changed (for the better)
Last used an arc welder about 15 years ago and it was basically a big transformer in a box with rheostat to control the output and weighed about 30kg Never got on really well with it and gave it away when I had access to pro quality mig welders at work. Now I'm out of the engineering business I found myself needing a couple of small welding jobs doing and also needed to repair the snapped steering column bracket on my mobility scooter. Been quoted around Β£150 to buy the replacement scooter parts which are not the best made things anyway so decided to repair myself. Was originally going to get just the MMA version of this but decided to go for the one with TIG option as I have a couple of projects lined up where this might be useful. What a fantastic bit of kit this is for the money, well made, and sooo light to carry around. Despite not having touched a welder for such a long time a few minutes spent doing test welds on some scrap to get the right power setting and was able to repair the bracket with good sound welds within an hour of unpacking this machine. Digital readout and electronics controlling the scratch start and consistency of arc make working with this machine a totally different experience.Next thing to do is get a regulator and gas bottle so I can have a go at TIG.Only issue I had was that the welding mask was not in the package - however as those included tend to be a pile of poo anyway I had ordered an auto darkening helmet at the same time as well as some rods.At Β£200 for the whole lot and delivered 18 hours after I had ordered I got my scooter back on the road and ended up with a useful bit of kit that I can see getting plenty of use for little more than I would have spent on parts.

Great value
I'm an experianced welder mig, arc, gas and tig. In the last few years I have only used arc/stick at home. I had always wanted a tig and over the years the prices have dropped. I was very impressed with Rohr 160, very compact. In arc mode impressively smooth compared to my 20 year old SIP 150 , simple to adjust the amperage, clear digital display . The first few runs were great and on further projects produced sound welds. After buying a regulator, flow gauge and renting an argon bottle I was ready to get back to Tig. The welder comes with the collets required 1.6mm,2.0mm and 2.4mm . Amazon sell the mild steel welding rods and tungsten rods. The welds produced were very good, for a beginner there are plenty of YouTube videos to help. Overall the package is great value, perfect for home use and may stretch into light commercial, fan cooled for longer duty cycle and industry standard fittings for ground lead, torch etc. If you want to get into Arc and Tig at home I would highly recommend the Rohr 160.

Fantastic machine.
Now. first off I would never class myself as a 'Welder' I can however attach two pieces of metal together with serviceable structural and visual properties. My faithful old SIP stick welder finally departed this life after many years of service so I started looking for a replacement. Noticed that I could get a combined Stick, Tig machine for a reasonable price and, after reading the reviews, decided on the HP-160L. From my hobbyist perspective what a machine this is ; smooth stable arc in stick mode and the Tig setup works faultlessly. A few hours practice and I'm hooked on this type of welding especially on the thinner stuff. Much more practice required of course but any faults are mine and certainly not the machine! All components feel well made and it's certainly value for money; time will tell on it's durability but all looks good to me. I would not put this in the Fabrication shop at work but for home or even occasional light commercial use I think its ideal: go on have a go you know you want to !

Good for you money π
Nice little very light set. Only tried it out tigging once from new will have to wait and see it it lasts. It welded 5mm stainless with no proplem but I think gun would over heat probably if welding for long periods. This seems an excellent little hobby welder. I'm happy with it ππππ

Easy to use arc welder.
Coming from years of using the previous generation of heavy transformer wound arc welder this machine is an impressive step forward, compact and light when taking to jobs outside the workshop is a big bonus. When combined with good quality welding rods it rarely cause any sticking when starting a weld. Tried it starting out on a piece of 1mm sheet steel with 2.5mm rods at 40 amps and the results were as good as with a mig welder. All in all a very decent welder then, the only thing i'd say is to keep it off the ground on a small stand to avoid the plastic parts of the casing from getting damaged by molten drops of weld etc.

Impressive piece of kit
Bought this unit to make some bespoke frames and gates for garden. What a joy to use and very capable welder. I have only used it in TIG mode and cannot fault the machine. I would recommend investing in a hobby gas bottle as the disposable ones run out quickly. Quality machine at excellent price!!

Great piece of kit
Only used it once so far, so this is only a limited review. Good quality build with all relevant accessories, I was impressed with the grounding cable, good grip and quality. One thing I would give the thumbs down would be the welding visor, spend some money and get something decent. Not used the gas yet but judging by the reviews that shouldn't be a problem. It's early days for me but up till now I think it's money well spent

Not a bad welder
The welder itself is great but the tig torch is inferior the switch moves around which makes it hard to alter your angle while welding
